God, it’s never been like this with anyone but him. Not even Ryder…
The thought scares me because this is only supposed to be a temporary thing, but nothing about it feels like it’s short-term.
Fuck.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Just…” How to answer? “Odds.”
“Odds?”
I hum. “What are the odds that we’d hook up?”
He cocks his head at me then slowly tumbles onto his back, tossing an arm over his eyes as he does.
“Odds have a funny way of working out in someone’s favor if they’re willing to take the bet.”
I blink at the peculiar statement, but he drops his arm and reaches for me.
Eager to stay close to him, I rest my head on his chest, my fingers clinging to his shoulder as I snuggle into him.
“Sleep, Belle.”
He kisses my forehead and I let my eyes close as I inhale his scent. Both our faces are marked with each other, and as much as we desperately need a shower, there’s something comforting about it.
Something primal and primitive deep in my soul is at peace because of it.
Hearing his heartbeat, strong, powerful, I whisper, “Cade?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m glad I’m here.”
His arms tighten around me but I don’t realize he doesn’t answer because his heartbeat against my ear has already lulled me to sleep.

BELLE
“What is that noise?” I mutter, burying my face in Cade’s neck.
“Go away,” he yells.
I groan because my head is killing me and that didn’t help matters. Throw in the asshole knocking on his door and I’ll be yelling next.
“Ma wants to meet Isabelle. She made breakfast.” The woman’s voice has my eyes popping open.
Ma.
God, he’d said it himself, hadn’t he?
Ma is tomorrow’s problem.
He roars, “Kitty, I swear to God—”
“Don’t yell at me. But I’d get up. The eggs are getting cold.” She sings the last part, obviously enjoying being our alarm clock.
“Wait. Does your family have a key?” I whisper as he sits up, his eyes caressing my face before dropping to my breasts.
