“I don’t know yet, but until I do, you’re both going to wait here. And don’t bother screaming, because no one will hear you.”

He turns the light off, leaving us both in pitch darkness.

I change my mind—I don’t like this plan.

I should have listened to Atlas.

Fucking hell.

“Cara?” I whisper.

“Yeah?” she replies, voice husky.

“Don’t be scared. We’re okay, just in darkness,” I say. “They took our necklaces.”

“Shit,” she whispers. “Where are we?”

“I don’t know, but we’re both in cages. I hope they fucking kill him when they find him,” I grit out.

“How will they find us?” she asks, voice smaller than usual.

“I don’t know, but they will figure it out,” I promise her. I reach my hand out through the bars and hold her hand. “We will be okay.”

“I’m the older sister—that’s supposed to be my line,” she replies, squeezing my hand. “What a shit show we’ve gotten ourselves into.”

“I know,” I whisper.

“We really are Wind Dragons now, huh?”

“Nah, I’m a KnightandDragon.”

And it’s true. I’m loyal to my family, and to Atlas.

I’m both.

And we are going to make it out of here.

Chapter Thirty-One

Atlas

I can’t sit around and wait, so I head to some warehouses the FC have been known to hang around, but most of them are empty and abandoned. I’m inside one of the buildings in the area when Decker calls me.

“We got Marko’s location from Rhett; I’m sending it through to you right now.”

“How?”

“The bugs. He also knows who the mole is. It’s Sledge. He made a phone call to Marko while he was in the car. The Wind Dragons are getting him right now. Rake is fucking fuming,” he says. “We are on the way, and so are Felix and the cops. We’ll see who gets there first.”

“Okay, thank you.”

I put the location into the GPS and speed there.

The location, which happens to be an old house about fifteen minutes away, is one I never would have come across because it’s hidden from the road, with a long driveway that leads to the house. I park down the road and see Decker pull up in his car.

“What’s the plan?” is the first thing I say to him.

He hands me a gun, and I notice it is loaded and ready to go. I’ve already got mine, but two are better than one.
