“What are you talking about? Cassidy has made me want to be a better person. I can’t think of anything more exciting than having a mate,” Mike said.
“I agree,” Zach added. “Before, all I wanted to do was wander the woods and enjoy nature. Now, I can’t wait to be with her.”
“See?” Mason said. “You both are hopeless romantics.”
They laughed. A few minutes later, Zach drove through downtown Idaho Falls. “It’s really nice here,” Mike said. “I wouldn’t mind living here, other than my folks would be disappointed.”
“As long as there is a forest, I’m good, but my family might kidnap me and drag me back to Montana,” Zach said.
“How about we find a hotel and then see if Cassidy is at her grandmother’s house?” Mason suggested.
“I’m game. Keep your eyes peeled for a good place to stay,” Zach said.
“There’s one.” Mason pointed to a small boutique hotel in the middle of the town.
“And another one,” Mike chimed in nodding to one a block away.
“It seems as if they have a lot to choose from. Any preferences?” Zach asked.
“I don’t care, other than we want it nice for Cassidy,” Mike responded.
“Do you two think of anything other than sex?” Mason asked.
“No,” they answered in unison.
“Then pick a hotel that might have a nice lobby and is close to a few restaurants. I have a sense I’ll be spending quite a lot of time out of the room while you two entertain your mate.”
It didn’t take long before they found the perfect place and checked in. Mike turned to Mason. “Do you have the directions to her grandmother’s place?”
“I do. I also have her phone number.”
“If we call, I’m betting Cassidy will tell her to deny she is there,” Mike said. “Let’s just scope it out.”
“Works for me.”
Once they dropped their gear off in their room, they returned to the parking lot and headed west out of town. Turned out the grandmother lived about ten miles away in another quaint town. Her home sat on a small lot snuggled close to a lot of other houses. There was little chance they could shift and stay outside in that neighborhood.
“The light is on inside,” Zach said.
“I say we walk by and see if we can sense Cassidy’s shifter signature,” Mike said.
“And if we do?” Mason asked.
“We knock on the door. When we ask if Cassidy is there, the grandmother will probably say no, but hopefully, Cassidy will recognize our voices and come rushing out.”
“Let’s hope she is happy to see us,” Zach said.
“How are you going to convince her to spend the night with you both?” Mason asked. “Her grandmother might not approve.”
“Let’s play it by ear.”
“Fine.”
The three of them slipped out of Zach’s truck and walked casually by the house. It was hard to tell this far away if their mate was in there or not. “I spotted an alley in back. Let’s check it out from there. If nothing else, we might catch a glimpse of her in the window.”
They went around the block and then cut through to the rear of the home.
“I can sense her,”Mike telepathed to them.
