What was he thinking? If Cassidy picked Zach, then Mike might not be around to help out.Whatever.So what if Cassidy claimed they were both their mates? Actions spoke louder than words.
“How’s Cassidy doing?” Alex asked.
“Great. She’s with Zach at the moment.”
Liam walked up to them after placing some mats on the floor. “You look glum. What’s up?”
Mike was never one to talk about his issues, but these two were in what he believed to be the perfect relationship. Zach’s twin was a new woman after she met these two. And these guys seemed to have their shit together. Maybe they could give him some guidance. Heaven only knew he needed it. The idea of giving up Cassidy stuck in his craw.
“I’m bunking at Zach’s place so Cassidy can have her own space.”
Liam cocked a brow. “Tawny said you both were her mate.”
“We are, or so I thought.”
“Have you and Zach ever shared before?”
“Yes, and that's the issue.” He explained how Zach planned to stay in his animal form last night in order to keep Cassidy safe. “According to both of them, she seduced him.”
Liam chuckled. “I know what you’re going through. This might be too much information, but Alex and I actually planned to have him go first. Having two men at once when the woman isn’t used to it can lead to disaster. Trust me. It’s happened to us before. With Tawny, we wanted to get it right.”
“You think?”
“Yes. Chances are Zach understood the need to go slow. Did he say what time this monumental event occurred?”
“No.”
“Maybe it happened in the middle of the night. I sure as hell wouldn’t have waited for you to get there. By then, Cassidy might have changed her mind.”
“I see your point.”
“When we met her at Tawny's parents' house, Cassidy seemed strong and resilient. Zach was right in letting her take the lead. Do you want my suggestion?” Liam asked.
“Please.”
“If all three of you are in the same place, it will make things easier.”
“You mean ask her to move into Zach’s place?”
“Yes.”
That had some merit. For one night, he wouldn’t mind sleeping in his wolf form in the living room while Cassidy had her own room. He might wander in to see how she responded to him. Mike smiled. “I like it.”
“Now get your head in the game or you won’t be in any shape to make love to anyone tonight.”
Mike laughed. Now that the bad situation was more or less resolved, he could focus on improving his fighting skills.

The plan had been for Zach and Mike to take Cassidy to Alex and Liam's place to see if they could use some help administratively, but with Mike so upset, Zach thought it better if they worried about getting a job for Cassidy another time.
“Welcome to my ranger station office,” Zach said. He wished it was larger, but he was lucky it had a phone, a desk, and a wall full of maps.
“It’s nice,” Cassidy replied.
“I really don’t spend much time in here. That’s why we hired Agatha after my shooting since I’m usually in the woods. She can contact me if someone needs help.” He patted the side of his pack. “We bought satellite phones so we don’t have to worry about reception.”
“That’s awesome. Agatha seems like a perfect fit.”
