“Sounds nice.”
“How ’bout you? You dream of a big wedding?”
“Never really thought about it much until you, girl. But yeah, seeing you come down the aisle would be fun. Maybe not in a typical white dress, but…red or, hell, what you’re wearing right now. Wouldn’t matter to me. But the idea of you, willingly walking to me. That’d be cool.”
“Willingly, huh?”
“The fact that someone wouldchooseme, yeah, that’s awesome.”
“Hmmm. Never thought of it that way. You believe in fate?”
“Hell yeah. Though we can get in its way sometimes. Ultimately yeah. Fate always wins.”
“So, where are you taking me?”
“Almost there.”
The limo bounced a little, and I looked up. A movie theater came into view…only it wasn’t bustling with people. I looked up at him, confused.
“You’re a little stinker, you know that?”
“Still got those Sugar Babies?”
The limo came to a stop, and I sat up straight. Drey cupped my cheek and pulled me in close. “I love you, girl.”
I melted. Absolutely melted. “As screwed up as I am, Drey, there’s one thing for absolute certain: I love you.”
The door opened, and the driver’s hand appeared to help me out. Once again, there were rose petals and a little red carpet that led to the door. He really was knocking this out of the park.
He held the front door open, and I peeked inside. It smelled like movie theater popcorn and everything.
“Where is everyone?” Come to think of it, I didn’t see a sign of what movies were here.
“It’s just us.”
“How is that possible?”
“Put it this way. A friend of a friend of one of the doctors at the hospital…”
“Friend of a friend, huh?” He steered me to the first set of theater doors.
“Pulled a couple favors. This place won’t be in business for a bit, ran into some red tape or something. But…consider this a test run.”
“Private screening, huh?”
“All-nighter of your favorites.”
“Resident Evilmarathon, huh?”
He dipped his head. “And all the popcorn, soda, and Sugar Babies we can eat.”
“How ’bout the limo, and the restaurant. How—”
“Doesn’t matter. I know people, they helped out. It’s all good. Don’t worry.” He tugged me to a stop right beside the door leading into the dark theater. “Before we go in…” He dipped his hand into his pocket. “I want you to think about something.”
All I could think about at the moment was kissing him, but I held back, waiting for him to finish.
“What I said earlier was true, Sarah. I want you…for always.”
