“Drey. Nicco said…our marriage might not be—”

“Shhh,” I said. “Don’t worry about that. You’re my wife. No matter what. We’re married.”

“Good. I didn’t want you to say suddenly we couldn’t have sex.” Her body softening beneath me.

I nipped at her bottom lip. “Once I’ve had you, I can’tnothave you, girl. I’m hooked. There’s no going back.”

She shifted, opening herself even more to me. “I’m…a little cold.”

Drey

Ispunmywifearound the dance floor until we were both breathless.

Lights hung from the trees of the community center in the courtyard where we had our first date and heaters chased away the chill in the air. Sarah giggled as I spun her, then landed directly in my arms.

“Great choice for the first song,” she said. “Truly Madly Deeply. The one you played for me on the radio.”

“Hand over the man card,” Hunter said as he swayed his wife near us and patted me on the shoulder.

After three songs on the dance floor, we finally took a rest at the table. Hunter’s mom, Lisa, Marshal, Angelina and Hunter, Lizzie, sitting beside Bill, surrounded the table.

“This was a nice renewal of your vows,” Hunter’s mom said.

“Well, even though Nicco’s marriage license was a sham, making ours legal, I thought it might be fun,” I said as I kissed Sarah’s cheek and hugged her close.

It was unseasonably warm, but still, I wanted to make sure my wife was warm.

Wife.That sounded absolutely perfect.

“Underage signature made it null and void, not to mention the under duress part.” Marshal reached for his glass of wine. “And I’ve got a bit of a wedding present for you.”

I looked at him, my nerves kicking in. It’d been about a month since everything happened up near Canada, and we’d not heard much.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe,” he said.

While that seemed reassuring, it wasn’t.

Marshal inhaled a deep breath. “The team’s still finding some trafficking rings, but we’re making progress.”

“Where?” Sarah set her glass down.

“Mexico, Canada, three in the states.” He pulled Hunter’s mom in and kissed her temple. “Son of a bitch had hundreds of women.”

Sarah grunted. “Are they…safe now? I mean, what happens to them?”

“They’re taken care of. Counseling, shelters. We won’t leave them hanging.”

“Now that’s a wedding present for sure!” Lizzie said.

“There’s more,” Marshal went on. “You know there was a reward out for Nicco, right?”

“Reward?” Sarah sat straight. “No.”

Marshal dipped his head. “Should hit your account tomorrow.”

“Holy shit, really? How much?” I asked.
