She giggled, then opened her mouth. I slid it in, and she took the bite. “Oh my gosh. That’s so good!”

I got a bite for myself and nodded. “Damn. I’m a good cook.”

“What?” She sat up straight. “You did not…”

“No. I did not.” I grinned.

She batted my shoulder and laughed. “You’d bewaytoo perfect if you could cook, too.”

“Perfect, huh?” I got another bite ready for her. “I like the direction this conversation is going.”

She quirked an eyebrow. “You do, huh?”

I held the fork of cake up for her, and she leaned in, not taking her eyes off me. Slowly, she opened her mouth, slid her tongue out, then took the bite of cake.

Holy crap.That was a sight.

She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Heat stampeded down my spine as I watched her tongue jet out and catch a crumb that’d fallen onto her bottom lip.

She missed it, though.

I leaned in and licked that thing up before I’d even realized what I was doing. She swallowed her food, then inched toward me, her bright eyes focused on my mouth. I met her halfway, crashing my lips to hers.

Sugar and coffee tickled my taste buds. Her fingers combed through my hair, then curled around the back of my head, pulling me closer to her. I shifted in my seat to get even closer to her, and she eased her head to the side, giving me full access to her long neck.

I grazed on her soft skin until my lips met the neck of her dress. I peeled it down a little so I could kiss her shoulder and see more of her.

“Preach,” she whispered, inching impossibly closer to me.

I leaned away, whipped my feet over the bench, then scooped her up and set her on my lap.

She giggled, then pulled me in for a scorching kiss. I had better access to her now, so I skimmed my fingertips along the neckline of her dress. She shivered and intensified her kiss with a subtle moan.

Her phone belted out a chorus of trumpets, and she flinched. “Oh my gosh. What time is it?”

“No idea,” I said, brushing my lips along her neck.

“That’s my alarm.” She reached over me to get her purse.

“For…”

“Curfew.” She stuck out her lower lip.

Okay, that word got me more focused. “Wait. What time is it?”

She grabbed her phone and silenced the parade music. “We’ve got five more minutes before we have to leave.”

“Five?”

“Just enough time for one more kiss…”

“Okay, you were right…” Grace turned toward me in her seat. “Best date ever.”

“And I got you home with four minutes to spare.”

“Almost had to break the speed limit, but yeah, you did.” She kissed my lips. The sugar from the tiramisu danced along my taste buds, and I chased after it.
