“What do you mean?”
“Well, Michael said there are some cases when the patient loses his present memories in exchange for the old one,” I explained.
“Well, he’s not far from the truth,” he sighed. “To be honest, I forget some things that happened recently. I can remember names and faces but specific actions? I slowly forget all of them.”
“Don’t tell me…even our first time?” I was worried.
“I’m sorry, Aria,” he lowered his head.
“That’s not a problem. All I have to do is make your body remember,” I said confidently.
“Couldn’t have said it better myself,” he replied.
I kissed him, and he held onto my cheek. We kissed slowly, patiently. I didn’t want to rush him. This kiss…felt new…it was new.
“That reminds me,” he said as we paused the kiss. “I’m thinking, and it’s just a thought, but what if I don’t go back tomorrow?”
“What do you mean?” I raised a brow. “You need to meet Aisha to claim everything back.”
“I realized that it won’t work that way,” he replied. “Aisha would have to prove that I am who I say I am. And Blake wouldn’t offer me that opportunity to prove it.”
“Oh,” I had not considered that possibility.
“Besides, judging by the fact I was attacked, maybe charging in now might not be a good idea,” he continued. “I was just lucky that they weren’t fully armed. Who knows how things will go next time?”
“You’re absolutely right,” I agreed with a sigh. “Our best bet is to wait for Hunter. Oh, but you don’t have your phone. How did you plan to contact him or Matilda?”
“Well, for Hunter, he’ll find me,” he replied. “I don’t know what to do concerning Matilda or Aisha, but maybe it’s a good thing.”
“It is?”
“Thinking about it now, there really isn’t any reason for me to go back,” he said. “I lived here for 2 years and still survived normally and, most importantly…I found you, or you found me.”
“I definitely found you,” I smiled. “Oh well, if that’s your decision, then you have my support.”
“All we have to do is wait for my mother,” he said as he tightened his embrace.
“We’ll have to wait,” I affirmed.
He kissed me again, and I kissed back…and that feeling was there again…this was new…
Chapter 11
Finding Mommy
Blake
The day before Nick left for Georgetown
We were done talking, and Mrs. Wolfe was about to leave when her phone started to ring.
“It’s my daughter,” she said. “I hope it’s the news we’re both waiting for.”
“Oh, hello, jellybean,” she greeted. “How are you doing?”
“You don’t sound like you are,” she said. “Is something wrong?”
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
