“Two days?!” I was surprised. “I shouldn’t have come now, then.”
“Eh, I thought you would spend the time looking for your mother?” she asked.
“No one has found her, hasn't it?” I asked.
“Well, Hunter is the one looking for her this time,” she replied.
“You seem confident that he would.”
“He isn’t called Hunter for nothing,” she shrugged. “Dead or Alive, there isn’t anyone he can’t find.”
“Hunter mentioned that Blake had something on him, which is why he aided my accident,” I said.
“Wait? Really? Doesn’t sound like something Hunter would do,” she replied. “But if he was being blackmailed, then yes, I can see it happening.”
“Do you have any idea what he is being blackmailed for?” I asked. “Although he had a part in my accident, he did make sure that I stayed alive for the most part. I owe him for that.”
“I wouldn’t know. Hunter did seem like someone who'd have a lot of secrets,” she said.
“Well, I'll look for my mother here, and we'll have to think about convincing her that I'm not a fake,” I said.
“I don't think you'd have to do much,” she said.
“Really? What do you mean?” I asked.
“Well, I think you'd understand when you see her,” she answered. “Now eat up. The food is getting cold.”
“It's a shame I can't meet Aisha today, or tomorrow at least,” I sighed.
“Actually, the strangest thing is she agreed to meet tomorrow, but suddenly her personal assistant informed me that a shareholder wanted to see her,” she explained. “I don't know which, though.”
“Well, that's alright. I'm still grateful,” I said.
She nodded, and we continued our meal in silence.
My memory started to feel hazy. Almost like there was something I forgot about the members of the shareholders. I wanted to ask Matilda, but I wrote it off. If Aisha was there, it would mean the shareholders had changed entirely.
Oh well.
After the meal, I tried calling Aria but noticed there was no bar.
I checked my travel bag and found out I didn't bring my charger along.
“Matilda, do you have a type B charger?” I asked.
“Type c, sorry,” she replied. “I doubt the stores around have any. Also, if you’re considering making a phone call, the network is shitty here.”
“I see; I might have to get another means of communication then,” I sighed.
Maybe I should just go back to Myrtle Beach tomorrow and pick up the charger. And maybe have a little recharge with Aria.
Aria
A day after Nick had left for Georgetown, I was a little anxious.
“So that’s what happened,” Michael said.
I told him about Nick’s memory loss and recovery and what he intended to do about the situation.
