“Another option is to get someone within the company to be on your side,” she said. “Do you think Hunter could do that for you?”
“Sadly, Hunter can’t help from within the company,” I said. “I’m on my own. If only I had Aisha’s contact.”
“Aisha? Who’s that?” she asked.
“An old business partner,” I said. “I don’t know where she stands in relationships with Parker Corp, but I’m sure she would be of profitable help at this point.”
“I’m sorry I can’t do much right now,” she said.
“Trust me when I say you’re doing more than I could imagine,” I said honestly.
I patted her hair, and she lit up.
My phone started to ring.
I didn’t recognize the number, so I picked it up but didn’t say a word.
“Hello?” the caller sounded nervous.
The voice…I couldn’t believe it.
“Matilda?” I called.
“Sir? Sir?? Is it really you?” she asked, and I could hear the tears she was trying to hold back.
“Yes, it’s me, Matilda,” I replied.
“Thank God…Thank the fucking Lord,” she let a heavy sigh and a weak laugh. “I’m so glad I don’t believe it. You’re actually alive.”
“I am indeed,” I said with a light chuckle. “How did you know to check on me?”
“Well, Hunter came by the office,” she explained. “And it was weird because we hadn’t seen him after yourdeath. I felt something was up, so I eavesdropped. I overheard them talking about you losing your memories and all that.”
“I see. Then how did you get my contact?” I asked.
“On his way out, Hunter approached me and gave it to me and asked me to help the person on the other end however I can,” she replied. “Imagine my joy realizing that it was you.”
“I’m glad that you reached out,” I said. “Also, considering that you still work at Parker Corp, I would like your help in any form you can muster.”
“Well, I’ll be glad to,” she said. “What do you need?”
“First information, what’s the power structure in the company right now?”
“Your brother has the final say, but I’ve been doing some work making him affect any major changes delayed,” she explained.“There is still a power above him, though; the shareholders. If you can get one of the shareholders on your side, then there’s a chance of overthrowing Blake.”
“Well, I don’t think I know anyone currently there,” I sighed. “Maybe I’ll look for another way.”
“You do know one of them,” she replied. “Her name is Aisha. I believe she was a partner at some point in time.”
“Speak of the devil. That’s the person I wanted to see,” I said while sounding slightly overexcited. “How do I get in contact with her? Do you have her number? An email or something?”
“Actually, no, you can’t meet her through those,” she explained. “I don’t know where you are right now, Nick, but you’ll have to come over here.”
Blake
“To what do I owe my future mother-in-law for her to grace me with her presence,” I said as I bowed.
Mrs. Wolfe offered her hand, and I took it while kissing it.
