“Wasted?” I smirked. “I don’t think we wasted anything. I call today a day well spent.”
“I knowwww. Let me go damn you.” She pleaded as she tried to get up from my lap.
I held onto her waist, making her escape futile for a moment before deciding to let her go.
“Thank you, now scram, you sexy hunk of distraction,” she said and pointed at the door.
“Whatever you say, boss,” I sighed and started to leave.
She held my arm and kissed my lips as I walked past her.
“I love you, Nick Parker,” she said.
“I love you too, Aria Wolfe,” I replied.
“Ah, uhmm, don’t tell anyone about us being official yet,” she said.
“Why?”
“Well, most of the men here have already tried asking me out,” she replied. “Just know it might cause some problems.”
I understood her reasoning; we were still employer and employee, and although we were together, letting others know would cause some problems.
“I understand. My lips are sealed,” I said.
“But keep them open when we’re alone,” she whispered. “I’m sure that mouth of yours and mine might have some things to work on.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m sorry that was corny as fuck.”
“Well fuck you then,” she pouted. “Now get going for real this time.”
I stood to leave, but she held my arm and turned me around. Kissing me deeply.
“I love you, Nick Parker,” she said.
“I love you too, Aria Wolfe,” I replied.
And with that, I left the office.
It was a few minutes to 8 pm, but it seemed like the sky was still bright.
I was brimming with joy and walked with a kick in my step.
“I have a girlfriend now, I guess,” I chuckled and pinched myself. “Definitely not dreaming.”
I don’t know when I noticed, but I was being followed.
When I noticed, I just assumed they were going the same route I was. However, I was a few minutes away from my place, and they were still following me, making me realize something wasn’t right.
Before I could turn to confront the stalker, I was hit by an object causing me to collapse.
“Gah…” I groaned. “Who?”
“Ah,” the assailant spoke. “You again?”
The voice…sounded familiar.
“This must be fate,” the assailant continued. “I’ll let you go this time.”
