Kade dropped his head against mine, his chest heaving. Once we caught our breaths, he rolled onto his back and pulled me with him until I was sprawled on his chest. “Best damn way to start the day.”
“You definitely won’t hear me complaining about it.” I giggled, burying my face against his chest.
“Not even if I wanted to go again?”
My head jerked up, my eyes going wide as I glanced down at his dick…which was still semi-hard. “I’m not sure how that’s possible, but I’m game if you are.”
His only answer was to drag me to the shower so he could clean me up before getting me dirty again.

Kade
My foot pressed the gas pedal hard, forcing me to race away from Annalise’s dad’s house. I’d hated just dropping her off and not walking her to the door like my momma taught me to do. But my girl was stubborn when she wanted to be.
Deacon had texted half an hour ago that they’d received an alert from a hospital in the area we were surveilling. A man had checked in with a dangerously infected injury. His description matched what Annalise and I remembered of him. The patient wouldn’t say how he got injured, but Deacon put in a call, and an orderly he knew confirmed that it looked like a dog bite.
When I had told Annalise, she’d jumped up from bed and raced around to get dressed. “Let’s go!” she shouted.
I’d been doing the same thing until I heard her and realized she thought she would be going with me. Then I snaked a hand around her waist and pulled her body up against mine. “Not fucking happening, Annalise,” I growled. “You will not be going anywhere near that asshole.”
She’d gasped and tried to struggle out of my hold. “Of course I’m going with you, Kade! Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Annalise!” I snapped.
She stopped squirming and stared at me in surprise. I had never, ever raised my voice to her, but this time, Ineededher to hear me.
“I will noteverrisk putting you in harm’s way, baby. Please don’t ask me to.”
Her mouth parted, and her expression turned soft. “I…” She sighed. “Okay.”
I brushed my lips over hers and murmured, “Besides, you could be pregnant, gorgeous. You wouldn’t walk to risk our baby.”
Annalise melted into my embrace and whispered, “I would never.”
“Thank you, baby.”
I released her, and she stepped back. “Well, go then. Don’t make me worry about you and Tucker any longer than I have to.”
I shot her a look that let her know I thought she was crazy. “I’m not leaving you here alone, Annalise. Not until that crazy man is behind bars.”
She rolled her eyes. “Your place—”
“Ourplace,” I interrupted.
“Ourplace is more secure than Fort Knox.”
I sighed. “I don’t want to worry about you while dealing with a psycho, baby. Please let me take you to your dad’s.”
Annalise huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. “That won’t always work, you know. That please and your puppy dog eyes.”
I didn’t comment, simply happy to know I’d won. “Let’s go.”
“You should just drop me off and head right out,” she commented as I guided her out to my truck. “You don’t want to waste any time and risk him getting away.”
“Absolutely not,” I muttered. “Some of my boys are already on the way there.”
“Okay. Then you can just go straight from here, and I’ll take a rideshare.” She started to walk away, and I grabbed her arm to keep her still.
