He takes my panties and pulls them back into place over my swollen and aching lips while I try to catch my breath. His large hand gives me a firm slap between my legs, directly against my protruding clit and tiny waves of pleasure move through my body and make me whimper with need.

“Why the hell did you stop?” I ask accusingly.

He gives me a smirk and I immediately want to slap it off his stupid handsome face. “If I just let you come when you’re bad, how will you ever learn to be more careful?”

I can feel my jaw drop as he takes a step back from me, leaving the front of my body cold in the night air. “Are you fucking kidding me right now?” Instead of answering he grasps my dress, pulling it down so that it covers my panties. I smack his hands away in frustration and he lets out a low chuckle before adjusting the bulge in his pants. At least he didn’t get any relief either, though that feels like a cold comfort right now.

“Ahem.”

Both of our heads snap to the opening of the alley where that other detective who took my statement is standing, and I immediately feel my chest and cheeks heat with embarrassment. How long has he been standing there? God, I hope he didn’t hear me begging Carson to let me come.

“If you two are done, we really need to get a move on,” he says, his eyes sparkling with mirth.

“We’ll be right there,” Carson calls back before turning to me. “Give me your phone.” My first instinct is to argue with him but I’m too aroused and too tired right now. Instead, I reach into my tiny clutch and unlock it before handing him the phone.

I eye him suspiciously while he types away at it until I hear a buzzing coming from his pocket. He pulls out his own phone to check it and then hands mine back to me. “There, now you have my number. Next time you have the genius idea of walking home by yourself in the middle of the night I want you to call me. You understand, Bianca?”

“I don’t need a keeper,” I grumble.

“Apparently you do. The second you’re not being watched you bring a goddamn high heel to a gun fight.”

“What can I say? I’m a trend setter.” I give him the brightest smile I can muster and that seems to irk him because I can see his teeth starting to grind.

“Let’s go, I’ll drop you at home. I’ve got to head back to the station and fill out a mountain of paperwork because of this mess.”

I wait for him to start walking so I can follow and instead he bends down, grasps me under my ass and hauls me over his shoulder again like I’m a sack of potatoes. This time his large hand is holding the back of my skirt down. I don’t know if I’m thankful to him for protecting my modesty or embarrassed that he’s acting like some caveman in front of a parking lot full of people.

I ball my hands into fists and beat them against his back which he notices about as much as he would notice a fly landing on him. “Carson, put me down!”

“Shoes, Bianca.”

I let out a sigh because I know there’s no way he’s going to let me walk through this broken bottle ridden parking lot and let him carry me to the car.

Groaning, I reach over and accidentally smack my phone off the nightstand and across the room. I pull myself out of bed and practically crawl over to it so I can shut off the constant trilling that’s piercing through my pounding head.

I didn’t get home until almost four last night and then I couldn’t go to sleep because I was still on edge from the orgasm I was denied. I ended up pulling my vibrator out of my drawer and making myself come in what must have been record speed but for some reason I still didn’t feel satisfied. I have a feeling my pussy won’t be happy until I get that orgasm that Carson’s fingers promised. Well, that’s too bad because we’re staying far far away from that arrogant asshole. Sure, that might have been the hottest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m not going to play his little power games. As far as I’m concerned, my girly bits are a Carson free zone and they’ll just have to deal with it.

I should go back to calling him Detective Dickwad.

I drag my ass to the shower and let the warm water relax my tired muscles before getting out and looking at myself in the mirror. I don’t have much time before I have to leave for work so I’m going to have to either skip my hair or my makeup. The choice is obvious. I pull my hair up into a sleek bun at the top of my head, making sure there are no wayward bumps sticking out and then set to work on making up my face.

Thirty minutes later I leave my bedroom dressed in an Amber color blouse with my high-waisted, black skirt that falls just below my knees. When I was pulling my three-inch pumps out of the back of my closet, I saw the place where my gold strappy heels used to be and took just a moment to mourn their loss. Admittedly, I did smile a little to myself about taking that asshole down with them.

Violet’s sitting at the kitchen table, both hands clasped around a mug of coffee, and staring off into the distance. “Hi, sweetie. You alright over there?” She jumps at the sound of my voice like I’ve just awakened her from a trance. She looks almost as tired as I feel.

“Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just been a busy couple of days,” she says quietly. I eye her while pouring myself a cup of coffee and add a shit ton of cream and sugar. Glancing at the clock I see I can spare a few minutes before I need to head out, so I sit down across from my best friend.

“Have you heard from Hollie? I haven’t spoken to her in a few days.”

“Yeah, I spoke to her last night. It sounds like things are going well. Her mom is already on her way to the rehab that Archer set up for her. Now they just need to pack up her apartment along with Paige’s things. She promised she’ll be back in time for your birthday party.”

I can’t believe I almost forgot about my party this weekend. I love a good party, especially when it’s for me, but I’ve been so occupied with work and the asshole next door, I had completely forgotten about it. “I hope you told her she doesn’t have to rush home for me. You know I would totally understand if she can’t make it. She needs to be taking care of her little sister right now, not worried about a stupid party for me.”

Violet reaches across the table and pats my hand. “It’s not a stupid party. Wewantto celebrate your birthday. Hollie knows you wouldn’t mind if she missed it, but she wants to be here. Plus, I think she’s looking forward to letting loose after the stress of the past week. I think she also hopes that a big party will distract Paige. You know her sister never wanted to move here and now she’s being forced to.”

“Yeah, but that was before she knew she was going to be living in Archer’s mansion,” I point out.
