She raised her eyebrows. “Yeah?”

“If you get powers and stuff, just keep it on low, live your life. All of this, it isn’t for you. You deserve more, and getting into the whole paranormal thing just shouldn’t be for you.”

“Why would you say that?”

“Cause you’re a good person, and I don’t want to see you getting hurt,” Axle finished.

Natalie paused and took a look at him before turning back to her food. She stretched a hand across the table and took his hand in her own. “Axle, I know things are weird, and I can’t really explain it, but…I’m not sure I want to be away from this. I don’t want to be away from you.”

Axle smiled, looking away. “We used to call it soulmates, but uh…shifters, we just call it mates. It’s like destiny. When a shifter meets their other half, they just know…I didn’t notice at first, ‘cause I was being an ass toward you, but…”

Natalie let out a breath, realizing what he was trying to say. Axle had seen her as his mate. She blushed, swallowing for a moment, before leaning in to kiss him on the cheek. Axle turned to look at her, confused, and she kissed him again. She was tired of hiding the way she felt about him, and from what he had just said, Axle felt the same as well.

“I don’t want to hide anymore. There’s no reason for us to do that,” she began.

Axle nodded and kissed her back, grabbing her hand and pulling her into him. Natalie screamed inwardly from the pleasure of the energy Axle was emanating. There was something his touch and kiss did to her that she couldn’t quite explain. It was like she was having cold shivers, but she felt so hot at the same time. And his body? Oh, she could get lost in it and rediscover herself in a thousand different ways.

Axle lifted her up and placed her on the table. By now, her head was in the clouds. He pulled off her thong and gazed at her intently as he lowered himself to his knees. She had never thought the day would come when she would see him on his knees.

Her body grew fervid with anticipation. A thousand fireflies crawled up her arms, her thighs…or maybe it was just his tongue. Axle kissed his way up slowly, taking his time to sniff in the scent of her inner thighs. The tease was driving her insane. She only wanted him to be inside her, making love to her like it was all that mattered in the world. But she couldn’t give the orders.

She let him dominate every single inch of her body—she liked it. When Axle’s tongue touched her wet vagina, she damn near lost her mind. He flicked his tongue around her as she gripped his hair, crying out his name. The louder she moaned, the more intense he got, desperate to drive her wild—and boy, was he doing it.

His hands went underneath her legs and grabbed her ass as he sucked on her. When she reached climax, he pulled up his face from between her thighs with a devilish grin. But he was only starting.

He took her in his arms into the bedroom and gently lowered her to the bed. He stood in front of her and stripped out of his clothes, then he permitted her a minute’s gaze at his divine nudity.

She was already out of breath when he touched her. His hands parted her thighs, felt her up, and tasted her. She reached for his groin, and finding him hard, she begged him to be inside her.

“Axle,” she moaned.

Axle moaned as well at the way she called his name. “Do you want me?”

“Yes,” she said. And she had never been more honest in her life.

He kissed her deeply and thrust deep inside her. They made love for nearly an hour, and when they were done Natalie could not stop staring at him. He was beautiful in ways she could not comprehend.

“You have the most beautiful eyes,” he said.

She smiled. “You chose the corniest line in all of history.”

He laughed, and before he could respond they heard the sound of a car pulling in.

“Bingwen,” Axle sighed.

It was just typical of the fucker to ruin the most beautiful moments.

Chapter 15 - Axle

Bingwen walked into the house, looking at Axle and Natalie as they stood by the door, smiling at him. The man snorted, walking right by them. Axle quickly shut the door and followed him in. Bingwen tossed a bag on the table before turning around to look at them.

“So while you two were busy fooling around in here, I made a bunch of discoveries, and also realized that Kanai really doesn’t like me.” Bingwen held up a hand which had been bandaged up, proof that the man had been in a fight.

“You faced off against him again?” Axle asked, stunned.

“If I had, I’d be dead. He sent his monsters after me, and unlike before, they’re a lot more powerful,” Bingwen replied. “Either way, I got what I needed, and I think we can get to it now. Are you ready?”

Natalie stared at him, stunned. The woman wasn’t sure what to say, and Axle didn’t like that she had to be a part of the madness. Levi’s mate, Lyra, was a werewolf who could take care of herself—she was strong, and could heal from her injuries.
