They both laughed and started crying.
“I was so worried,” Brenna said.
“Did you hear that I found my mate?” Simone said and glanced over at him as he sat and stared at her.
“Yes. Isn’t that crazy that both of us found them? I’m wondering if Nicole has one around here.”
“Are there a lot of shifters in the area?” Simone asked.
“Yes. From what Roman told me.”
“So, you have the Alpha as a mate?” Simone said.
Brenna snorted. “Yeah, lucky me.”
“I heard that, babe,” the man said in the background.
Simone relaxed when Brenna chuckled.
“When do I get to see you?” Brenna asked.
Simone looked at Blake again, and she could practically feel the anxiety coming off him. “Soon. We’re just getting to know one another.”
“I hope it’s soon because I miss you.”
“Nicole’s with you?” Simone asked.
“Yes. She’s been here a few days. Hey, I have to tell you that Stuart was here.”
Simone straightened. “Oh, no. What happened?”
“He took Nicole and me hostage, but Roman found us fast and took care of the problem.”
“God, I hope he tore the man apart.”
“Let’s just say we’ll never have to see him again,” Brenna said.
“Hey, I don’t want to waste the battery. I’ll call in a few days to tell you when I can come see you.”
“That would be great,” Brenna said.
Simone heard the man talking in the background.
“Hey, Roman just told me to tell Blake that his house is still vacant and that we’ll prepare it, and it will be waiting for him when he’s ready.”
“I’ll tell him. I’ll talk to you soon. I love you.”
“I love you, too,” Brenna said and hung up.
Simone set the phone on the side table. “My friend told me to tell you that your house is still yours.”
“I heard,” Blake said.
She forgot about how acute his hearing was. “Okay.”
Simone waited as she watched Blake. She could tell he was contemplating something. She just didn’t know what.
“We’ll go into town in three days and stay at my house there, but I’d like to come back here often.”
