“I was a kid when that happened. You’re never going to let me live that down.”
“Never.”
“Fine. I love all of my brothers equally, but you slightly more today.”
“You are such a brat.”
“Of course, I am. I’m the baby.”
“Let’s go.” Evan tugged me toward the staircase leading into the ballroom.
As we made our way inside, I scanned the faces looking in my direction, many of them I knew and just as many I’d meet later.
“Don’t even think about running.”
“I’m not the type to run. I’m a Mykos.”
“Damn straight. Don’t ever forget it.”
I held my chin up and let everyone take in their fill. I’d learned this game of rules and pedigree from the moment I took my first breath. I could play the debutante with the best of them.
I knew I looked damn good tonight. I’d gotten one of Akari’s go-to designers to make a custom gown, and she hadn’t disappointed. This dress hugged my body in all the right places, accentuating my long legs and curves without revealing too much.
And the dress had the added benefit of covering things I wasn’t sure how to explain. I’d transitioned from never having had sex to weeks of almost nonstop fucking, eating, sleeping, and more fucking.
Well, maybe we engaged in some other things in between too, but the majority of our time was spent within the parameters of my penthouse. The only time my pussy got a break was when Simon made his infrequent trips to New York.
The man was seriously insatiable.
I released a deep breath, pushing down the pulse of arousal brewing to life inside me.
Dear God, Simon had turned me into a sex addict.
How the fuck was I supposed to pretend we were complete strangers when he’d seen me in every compromising situation possible?
I’d use my poker face, that’s how. It helped me clean out the pockets of the biggest sharks in the world, so why not use it here?
As we moved into the crowd and continued to ignore most of our extended family, I said, “Just for the record, there is no one else. I don’t have time for it.”
Evan shook his head. “You’ve got to learn to live a little. What’s the point of being in Vegas if you aren’t going to have fun?”
“When was the last time you had fun, Ev?”
He led me in the direction where my parents waited. “That’s something all of us siblings need to learn.”
“I volunteer Tyler for the first sacrifice into the world of love and marriage, and then maybe I’ll consider it.”
“That will be a cold day in hell.”
“You’re probably…” I trailed off as my eyes connected with Simon’s cool emerald ones from across the room.
Or maybe not cool, since I knew the heat the ice of his green irises hid. And the way he scanned me from head to toes increased the need pulsing in my body from moments earlier.
Okay, I had to get myself under control.
We were strangers. Not two people who’d fucked like rabbits the night before.
“I see the big bad wolf has caught your attention,” Evan observed and then shifted as my family approached.
