“Speaking of mutual interests. You may want to spend more time in New York.”
“Meaning?”
“People are starting to notice your extended absences over the last few months. You don’t want to draw attention to your extracurricular activities, especially from her family.”
“I have no plans to go anywhere this weekend. I am otherwise engaged.”
Once seated inside my car, I sent a text to Nyx.
ME:Landed. Remember the rules. I’ll know if you cheated.
NYX:I don’t follow rules. Haven’t you figured this out yet?
ME:Then you’ll have to deal with the consequences.
NYX:Been there, done that. If it wasn’t for consequences, I wouldn’t be in the situation I am in with you.
ME:You mean in a state of orgasmic haze whenever you’re around me?
NYX:Apparently, you missed the memo this morning.
ME:I was running late.
NYX:Liar. Stayed long enough to get yours and then left me hanging.
I smiled, remembering the death glare she’d given me when I’d brought her right on the cusp of coming with my mouth and then kissed her inner thigh, slipped from the bed, and walked out of her apartment to catch my flight.
“When does she get into town?” Kasen asked, drawing my attention away from my phone and making me realize I had been completely ignoring him.
“This evening.”
Tonight, every member of the Drakos and Mykos clans, as well as those we considered allies, would gather to make my engagement official. The dog-and-pony show would more than likely make me want to strangle my uncle for forcing the whole charade on me, but at least I’d end the night buried inside Nyx. Well, first, I’d have to make it past the armada surrounding the Mykos mansion in the Hamptons to Nyx’s garden house.
“Told you she wasn’t like anyone you knew.”
Kasen’s statement was a complete understatement. Nyx wasn’t supposed to want and like the things I craved. Her sexual appetite went beyond anything I expected. Hell, she met me demand for demand. She took everything I gave her and then begged for more.
My cock jumped thinking of how she loved that edge of pain that seemed to border on too much. Never had a woman trusted me with her body to such an extreme level.
She brought out a side of me that made me want to fucking possess her. Which I had no doubt made me sound like a psychopath.
And then there was all the time we spent outside of fucking.
I actually enjoyed being around her. We talked, laughed, argued.
If anyone ever told me I’d look forward to going head-to-head with any woman, I’d have punched them in the face.
Maybe it was because Nyx couldn’t give two shits about who or what I was. In fact, my status in my family turned her off. To her, it meant restrictions, rules, toeing the line. Everything she wanted to avoid with a ten-foot pole.
She definitely wasn’t typical in any way.
Plus, the fact that until she moved to Vegas, she’d had as much decision power in her family business as her brothers and that she understood what it took to run Mykos Shipping, including the good, bad, and the dirty, made her no princess by any standards.
Then again, she wasn’t a princess but a goddess.
I also figured out the only reason she allowed anyone to underestimate her was so they wouldn’t look too closely at her other activities.
It was a clever-as-fuck guise, in my opinion.
