He was right. She could live a life without him, but it wouldn’t be as much fun. Her heart wouldn’t be as light and bright as it would be if he was around.

Cole cuddled her closer and rested his temple against hers. ‘I’ve been looking for love my whole life, Lex. And your love is all I need.’

Lex encircled her arms around his waist and reached up to place her face in his neck, feeling every inch of her settling, sighing, relaxing. Cole was holding her and all was right with her world.

‘I love you,’ she whispered quietly.

‘I love you more, my darling.’ He pulled back and pushed her hair off her forehead, tucking a curl behind her ear. Their eyes connected and she saw his throat bob. ‘Be mine?’

Every inch of her smiled. ‘I have been. I am. I always will be.’

Cole covered her mouth with his, banded his arm around her hips and lifted her up and into him. Lex wrapped her legs around his hips and placed kisses on his cheek and jaw, the side of his nose. ‘I think we should call our first child Charlie,’ she said.

Cole’s smile was sweeter than she’d ever seen it. ‘I think that’s a very good idea. Shall we start working on that right now?’

Lex laughed. ‘I’m brave, but not that brave, Cole. Let’s put a baby on hold for a year or two, or three or four.’

He sent her a wicked grin as he walked her into the house, heading for the nearest couch, she presumed. ‘You let me know when, sweetheart. I’m always up for the challenge.’

He was. And always would be.
