Michael continues speaking, though. “I shouldn’t have kicked you out like that the next morning. It was a dick move, but I swear I was thinking about Matthew—and maybe I had gone a little insane. Being with you had seemed too good to be true and I had to ruin it by doing what I did. After that, I thought I lost you forever.”
Finally, I find my voice. “You didn’t. I’m still that same twelve-year-old girl that was completely in love with you. The fifteen-year-old that foolishly started dating a boy she barely liked just to see how you would react. You’ve always been in my heart, Michael. I was just too scared to admit it until now.”
A slow grin forms on his face. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited to hear that, baby,” he states.
He kisses me, and somehow the kiss feels even better than all the other times. It’s solid, real.
“So, what do we do now?” I ask when we finally stop kissing.
“I think this is a part where I ask you to be my girlfriend.”
I laugh. “That sounds so juvenile, considering we have a kid together.”
“Yeah, you’re probably right. But I want to be with you, though,” he says sincerely.
His green eyes study me, staring at me like he can look into my soul.
“I want to be with you, too,” I assure him. “But what do we do about Noah? How do we talk to him? Don’t you think it’ll be a little confusing?”
Michael sighs before intertwining our fingers. “The thing about our kid is that he’s so fucking smart.
I think Noah’s going to be perfectly okay with this new development. He might even be excited. Or maybe he just won’t care.”
I smile. “As long as you read Harry Potter to him every night, he’s happy,” I say, moving closer and snuggling into his side.
He feels so warm and comfortable. Just as I start to think that we could stay in here all day, there’s a knock at the door. I jump even though Michael and I weren’t doing anything wrong. But he’s shirtless and my panties are somewhere on his bedroom floor.
“Mike,” his mom calls out.
My eyes widen; Michael looks amused. “Yeah,” he replies without taking his eyes off me.
“You and Christine need to come back to the party. Noah’s asking for you,” Sam informs us.
“We’ll be right there,” he tells her.
When we hear her heels clacking on the floor as she walks away, Michael pulls me into his arms.
“We need to go,” I say with a laugh.
“We will,” he states. “In about ten minutes.”
And then he’s kissing me and everything else ceases to exist.
Fifteen minutes and two orgasms later, we make our way back to our family. The smirks on their faces as we reappear tell me that they know exactly what we’ve been up to. I feel my cheeks heat.
Then the blonde with really long legs and a gorgeous body walks up to us. I don’t think I’m a fan of Mike’s ex. Mostly because she looks like a freaking Victoria’s Secret model, but also because I really don’t like the way she was flirting with my boyfriend.
Boyfriend. It seems too mild a term to describe Michael or the way he makes me feel. He’s so much more than that to me. We created a child together. He almost feels like my soulmate. I still can’t believe that after all this time and despite all the trials, we found our way back to each other.
“Hey,” Camila says in greeting.
I try very hard not to appear hostile. I’m not going to cut down my fellow woman because of a man. Although I really, really want to.
“Hey,” Michael says to her with an arched eyebrow. “Are you going to tell me what you were up to back there?”
Camila laughs. “I was trying to make her jealous,” she confesses.
“I’m sorry, you were what?” I ask.
