His wife smacks his chest.
“Be nice,” Cora scolds.
I shoot Camila a glare. “What was that about?”
She flips her golden blonde hair and smiles. “Nothing,” she says sweetly before walking back and resuming her position on the lounge chair.
I turn to Christine and she looks away from me as soon as I do.
“Man, you’re so fucked,” Matthew states, laughing.
“Fuck off, man.”
Noah comes over at that exact moment.
“Don’t say the f-word, Daddy,” he whispers.
I look down at him and smile while Matthew crouches down to say something in his ear. Noah’s suddenly grinning, and I’m curious what his uncle told him. Matthew rises and I raise an eyebrow in question, but he waves me off.
“What did he tell you, Noah?” I ask my son, who immediately shakes his head.
“Uncle Matt said not to tell you anything,” he says slowly.
I shake my head as Matthew bursts into laughter. “Good job, little man.” They high-five before Noah goes back to playing with one of his toys.
“He’s a good kid,” Matthew notes.
I nod. “Yeah, he is.”
“I’m really glad I got to meet him. Anyway, bro, I’ve been meaning to tell you: Cora and I are leaving in a few days. She has got to get back to work and I’m—”
“Going back to doing nothing?” I finish with a smile.
He glares. “Fuck you, and I’m planning on doing something,” he asserts with a frown.
Matthew has never worked a day in his life. He has no interest in company matters and he easily gets bored whenever he picks up any activity or new hobbies.
“What?” I question curiously.
He looks like he doesn’t want to tell me, but finally, he sighs. “I was thinking of opening a gym in New York. There isn’t one in my neighborhood. I already looked into buildings and gear and all that stuff.”
He looks hesitant, like he’s scared I won’t approve. I clap his back.
“I think it’s a wonderful idea, Matthew,” I tell him.
“Really, you think so?” he questions, and I nod.
“Definitely.”
Matthew smiles and it makes me feel fulfilled that I at least got to do something good for him.
“As long as you’re going to return all the cash you need for capital. With interest,” I add.
My brother scowls before coming at me with a punch. I chuckle as I effectively dodge. “I’m joking,” I say on a laugh.
Matthew shakes his head before heading over to his wife. Which is when Camila decides she isn’t done fucking me over yet. My eyes widen when she walks closer, and I shake my head at her. She doesn’t need to approach me here. Not when Christine is around.
“What’s up?” I ask through gritted teeth.
