Her breathing hitched and her lips parted when my other hand started lightly grazing her inner thigh.

“Adrian, stop,” she weakly let out as my fingers inched, higher and higher up her leg.

“Stop what?”

“These games you play.”

“I’m not playing with you, Paige.”

“All you’ve ever done is play with me.”

“How long are you going to keep this charade up? I’m getting tired of hearing you bitch about the past when I’m standing right in front of you now.”

“Hearing me bitch? How about me hearing you be an asshole? When are you going to give that up?”

“You’re right I am an asshole. And if it wasn’t for this asshole, you wouldn’t be safe. All I’ve done since I came back into your life is to make sure you still have one.”

“Adrian—”

“You want to talk about me being an asshole? How about we discuss the fact I haven’t heard a damn thank you out of your mouth for inserting myself in the first place. Not one. You don’t hear me giving you shit about it, now do you?”

“I refuse to thank you for something I didn’t ask of you.”

“If I hadn’t. Where do you think you’d be right now? For fuck’s sake! He sent you a funeral flower arrangement, Paige. It’s obviously his end goal.”

“I don’t think—”

“That’s right! You don’t think. If you had, you wouldn't be in this situation.”

“You’re saying it’s my fault I have a stalker?”

“I’m saying it’s your fault…” I deeply sighed, reeling in my anger. “You know what? It doesn’t matter. I’m here now and I’m not going anywhere. Get used to me in your life, Cherry. I’m here to stay. Permanently.”

“You signed a contract that you’d—”

“Fucking sue me. You won’t be the first or the last. Get in line with everyone else that wants a piece of me.”

“I can’t believe you. I would have never agreed to any of this if I thought you wouldn’t go through on your end of the bargain.”

“Bullshit. You want me here. You just can’t say the words to me, but that’s all right. I have no problem with finger fucking it out of you.”

She roared, “Any man can make me come and guess what, asshole? They have!”

I growled, clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth. Never expecting what she’d say next.

“I heard you talking to Cade this morning.”

“I see. Is that what this is really about?”

She ignored my question. “I thought you said you weren’t close.”

“My, my, Paige, what big ears you have.”

“That’s fitting. You are the wolf.”

“That’s because I’m always alpha.”

She swallowed hard while my fingers rimmed the edge of her silk panties.

“It’s his baby girl’s birthday next week. They’re having a party for her. Regardless of where we stand and how much he still hates me. He’s my brother and she is my niece. All he was doing was inviting me.”

“Isn’t that just peachy keen. I get kicked out of his life, but you’re invited to his daughter’s birthday party?”

“You mean the daughter he named after you?”

She winced.

“Have you even tried to reach out to him?”

“Of course I have. I spent months trying to get him to talk to me, see me, but he completely shut me out like I was never part of his life to begin with.” She sucked in a breath when my fingers skimmed over her pussy.

“Should I keep going, Cherry?”

“You mean as we continue to talk about your brother?”

“This won’t be the first time.”

“You’re shameless.”

“At least you’re letting me touch you.”

“What other choice did you give me? You’re manhandling me the way you always do.”

“If that were true, I’d done this.” Ripping out the tie from her hair, I wrapped it around her wrist to hold them above her head. “There. That’s much better.”

This was my go-to move between us. I loved seeing the heated look in her eyes as I held her arms above her head. At my mercy.

“Go ahead, Adrian,” she challenged with determination in her tone. Make me come with your skilled fingers. But I promise you, it’ll be the last time you do.”

I didn’t have to be told twice.

As soon as my fingers touched her clit, the sound of a brick breaking through my office window shattered all around us. Without thinking, I reacted, throwing her on the floor with my body instantly covering her.

In a matter of seconds, my bodyguards and building security ran into my office with guns in their hands, ready to pull the trigger. Each one descended through my office like a massacre had just occurred.

“All clear,” Charlie, the head of my security detail announced while two other guards darted out of my office going in search of our attacker.

We laid there for a few moments, staring deep into one another’s eyes before I gradually stood, bringing her up with me.

“Sir,” Jonathan, another guard chimed in. He nodded to the brick in his head. “There’s a note on here.”
