“Just keep your hands to yourself.” She turns her back to him, and when he leaves, I take his seat. Her dark hair is swept up into a ponytail, with soft waves coiling at the end, flipping around like a fucking bullwhip after dismissing the dickhead who offended her tonight. At least it wasn’t me this time.

I get lost in the situation I’d just witnessed that I don’t notice when she turns her attention to me. A deep grimace crosses her face.

“You lost? Your harem’s over there.” She points with a beer bottle to the group of women I’d just left. “Unless you’re ordering a drink, you can go right back over there.” How’d she know I was here, let alone where I’d been sitting? She’s been watching me. Intriguing.

“Are you going to bite my head off for ordering a drink tonight, or was that just the first-timer special?” Her eyes widen ever so slightly. I’ve hit a nerve, just like the other night.

“Only if you try to run your mouth or touch me like that last motherfucker.” There’s a bite to her words, but I can’t put my finger on the reason why. Annoyance, clearly, but there’s something else lingering under the surface.

“Wouldn’t dream of it. Just here to drink.” Having my balls displayed as a trophy on her bar top isn’t on the list of things I want to do today.

“Of course you are.” She throws her head back and laughs. “So, you want another Skinny Bitch, or would that be skinny bitches?” Her gaze shifts from me to the table behind me.

“Beer’s fine. Whatever you have.”

Reaching down, she grabs a bottle from the cooler, pops the lid, and slides it over to me. I glance at the label and chuckle. “Jack’s Hoppy Ass?”

“You said any beer, and this seemed fitting. Need anything else?”

I rattle off the cocktails the ladies had requested, and she grimaces at each of them. One by one, she sets the brightly colored drinks down in front of me and rattles off the total. I pull out the cash from my pocket and hand it over, telling her to keep the change.

She goes to help a customer behind me and watches as I bring the bottle to my lips and take a sip. “Not bad. Though, if I’m being honest, it doesn’t taste like ass at all.”

Her eyes grow wide.

“Something surprising in what I said?”

“No,” she replies curtly.

“About the other night… Why did you react that way?”

“What do you mean?” She frowns, trying to cover up her embarrassment. The blush on her cheeks gives her away, though. “Look, I really don’t have time for this. I need to get back to work.”

“You’re going to have to tell me sooner or later. Got another nine days here.”

“And there are plenty of bars in Sturgis, so spare us both the trouble and go to a different one.”

“Bitch has teeth, man,” a guy next to me mutters.

“Go fuck yourself, Hank,” she snaps. “One more word out of you, I’ll cut you off and send you back to your wife.”

Shit, Hank here isn’t fucking kidding. This bitch really does have teeth—sharp, pointed ones. Perfect for tearing up anyone that pisses her off.

“Still waiting for my answer.”

She rolls her eyes. “You’re going to be waiting a long time.”

“Like I said, I have nine days. I can wait you out.”

“You don’t even know my name.”

“That perfectly placed name tag tells me your name,Cora.” Her face flushes a bright crimson when she looks down and realizes that she is indeed wearing a name tag. But that embarrassment turns to anger in a hot second.

“Wanna know my name?”

“Asshole?”

“Not the first time I’ve been called that, darlin’, but it’s TwatKnot. You can call me TK.”
