“Why?” Emma asked.
Kaylin sighed.
“Have you ever heard of dyslexia?” She often forgot she had the disability until she saw some words she wanted to read.
Emma nodded. “Yes, that’s when the letters are messed up, making it hard to read.”
“I’ve got that,” Kaylin said and looked down at her lap.
Ava touched her arm. “That doesn’t make you retarded, Kaylin.”
“It makes me feel that way.”
“I can’t imagine,” Lacey said. “Isn’t there anything they can do about it?”
Kaylin shrugged. “I don’t think so. No one’s mentioned anything.”
“Do those men know?” Emma asked.
She shook her head. “Not yet, but they do know something’s wrong with me.”
“Nothing is wrong with you,” Lacey said. “It’s just your brain thinks differently. We all have our quirks.”
“I’m shocked I told you guys. I never talk about it.” She was shocked that she had opened herself up to these women she had just met, but it felt right.
“Us littles have to stick together,” Ava said.
Her brows snapped together. “Littles?” Kaylin asked.
Ava nodded. “We’re different from regular women our age. We’d rather color or play with dolls than dress up and go to a cocktail party.”
Kaylin shuddered. “I can’t imagine going to a party like that.”
The other three women grinned.
“So, you think I’m a little?”
“I would guess yes,” Lacey said.
“Which of the men is your daddy?” Emma asked.
“Daddy?”
“It’s something we call our men. It’s like honey or sweetheart, but the men like to hear us call them Daddy,” Ava said.
“Well, I’d guess both are.”
The three women’s eyes widened, and then they grinned.
“I’m not sure if I should congratulate you or be worried for you,” Lacey laughed. “But they’re both freaking hot.”
Kaylin giggled. She agreed.
“Let’s make a list of the things we’ll need to make this a fun playroom for us,” Emma said. “Plan on us coming to see you often, and we’ll bring other friends with us. Hopefully, your daddies will let you come and visit us.”
Ava patted her hand. “Don’t be scared. We all get along. They’ll love you, I promise.”
Kaylin exhaled and nodded. Just having these three women as friends was a dream come true. She couldn’t imagine having more.
