She stared out her window. She couldn’t say anything because they didn’t understand. They pulled up to the compound, and she noticed several bikes gone.
“Where is everyone?” she asked.
Ax shrugged. “We’ve got several businesses in the county that we must take care of. Fury doesn’t let us sit around.”
He lifted her out of the truck, took her hand, and pulled her into the house where the women were baking.
She looked up at Ax. “Can I help them?”
“Sure.” He pressed a kiss to her lips. “Have someone come and get me if you need me.”
“Okay.”
She waited until he left the house before she turned to the group of women.
“Hey, is there anything I can help with?” she asked.
Amelia smiled at her. “Sure.”
They were done with the brownies, and Ella was shocked at how much they had to make. Thankfully, they had two huge ovens.
“Hey, Ella,” Zoe said. “We’re going to try banana bread. Have you ever made it?”
She nodded. “Yes. It’s been a while, though.”
“That’s okay,” Tara said.
While the girls were getting the ingredients together, she pulled Lindsey aside.
“Hey, I have a question.”
“Shoot.” Lindsey grinned.
“The men that hurt me and the others are here in a shed. I need to see them once more before they’re taken care of. How much trouble would I get into?”
Lindsey’s eyebrows rose. “Oh, wow. I have no idea. Maybe we should ask Amelia.”
Ella shook her head. “No, I hate having to involve you at all. What’s the worst thing Fury would do?”
“Probably kick you out.”
Ella inhaled. Hell, did she really want to take a chance? “I would hate that, but it’s one of those things a person needs to do to move on. I’ll always wonder.”
“I get it. The guys are very protective of us.”
“Ax told me they were tied up and had guards. They can’t touch me.”
Lindsey nodded.
“I’m not going to ask you anymore because I don’t want you in trouble. I only need to know which way to the shed Ax was talking about.”
“Go past the silver Morton building, and you’ll see a hill and then a steel door. The rest of the place is dug into the earth. The guards will be inside the door.”
Ella hugged her. “I’ll be right back.”
“Are you sure you don’t want anyone to go with you?”
“Yes, I’m sure. I don’t want you guys around those men.”
