“How do you feel?” he asked.
“Better every day. My swelling’s about gone.”
He nodded. “Yeah, I noticed that. You’re beautiful.”
Ax smiled when she blushed.
“Thank you.”
“Do you want to watch TV or go to sleep?” he asked.
“I think just sleep if that’s okay.”
“Sure.” He turned off the TV. The only light coming into the room came from one of the security lights in the compound. Just enough to see her face. He reached out slowly, so he didn’t startle her and brushed the hair from her face. “Go to sleep. I’ll be here to watch over you.”
She reached for his hand. “Thank you, Ax. You’re helping me more than I can tell you.”
“I’m glad. Would you mind if I held you?”
She shook her head. “No, I’d like that very much.”
He situated them until her back was against his chest. He tucked the blanket around her and then relaxed and kissed the back of her head. “Night, babe.”
“Good night, Ax.”
He stayed awake a long time after she’d fallen asleep. He’d never wanted just to hold a woman in his life. He was used to fucking the sluts and walking away. Now, he knew how the other men felt that had their own lady, and he was already feeling possessive of her. It was crazy how much his feelings for her grew every day. He couldn’t imagine how he would feel in a week, month, or even a year. He admitted to himself that it kind of freaked him out. He didn’t like this feeling of depth and didn’t know how he’d handle it. Maybe he’d get up the courage to ask the other men how to deal with it.
Chapter Fifteen
Ella rode up the elevator with Ax and Amelia. She was glad the club had put the women in a luxury place. They deserved to be pampered.
Ax took her hand. “How are you doing?”
“I’m excited. I just want them to be happy,” Ella said.
“Oh, they are,” Ax told her.
Ella inhaled as Ax opened the door. There were several screams, and then she was enveloped in the women’s arms. They all started crying and talking at the same time.
“Ladies, how about you all sit before you crash onto the floor?” Ax said
The group walked over to the sofa and pulled up a few chairs to sit together.
“How did you do it?” Mindy asked.
Ella went through the whole story and was glad she made them laugh because she scared the men by being a witch.
“I heard them talking about it, but I didn’t know what they were referring to,” Tessa said.
“Have you guys talked about the future and what you want to do?” Ella asked.
“I talked to my husband. He cried. He said he never gave up hope. He’d been on a few dates but couldn’t go further.” Theresa wiped a tear from her cheek. “He’s coming to get me now.”
Ella gripped her hand. “I’m praying it all works out for you.”
“We’ll see.I know I’ll need a lot of counseling.”
Ella looked at the others as they nodded.
