The men waited until Pokey left. They planned to stay in the motel room for a while in case one of Teddy’s men followed to check on her.
Now, Ax lay beside Ella and felt something close to content for the first time in his life, and he knew he could quickly become addicted to her.
Chapter Thirteen
Ella blinked and opened her eyes. She stared around the room and noticed several hours had passed. The last thing she wanted to do was become a burden to the club, so she needed to get up and help. A gasp tore from her mouth when she realized she had a massive arm pinning her down.
“Hey,” Ax said.
She looked over her shoulder. “What are you doing?”
“Taking a nap.”
It sounded so ridiculous she smiled. “Aren’t there things you should be doing?”
“Not more important than this.”
She studied his face. “What is this?”
He smoothed the hair from her face. “This is whatever we make it. Amelia told me what happened to you. That’s fucked up.”
Ella nodded. She knew he was talking about the rape and was glad he didn’t say the word. “Yeah, but what keeps going through my mind is those women having to deal with this on a daily basis for years.”
“We talked to Rachel.”
Ella turned to face him. “Really. How?”
“One of our guys picked her up for a ‘date’ and brought her to a motel we were waiting at. She gave us a lot of information.”
“When can we get them?”
“Tomorrow night,” Ax said.
Ella looked down at his chest. “That seems so far away.”
“Think of it this way. If we went in tonight, there’s a chance Teddy could take off and start fresh somewhere else. Do you want that?”
She shook her head. “Hell, no. Besides the women, I want him most of all. I bet the girls are excited.”
Ax shook his head. “Rachel can’t tell the women because we have to make it look as normal as possible. If the men saw them with a smile on their faces, they’d be suspicious.”
“So, she’s the only one who knows they’ll be free in the next twenty-four hours?”
“Yes. I know it seems like a long time, but there’s no other way.”
It felt like an eternity.
“Where will you guys take the women?” she asked.
“We’ll take them to a hotel Fury has set up for them to relax, eat, get some rest, and feel safe, and after everything is calmed down, we’ll let them decide what they want to do,” Ax said.
Ella nodded. That might take a while because of the different situations. The women that had been in a relationship before getting kidnapped had to deal with informing the guys what happened to them.
“I think it’s close to dinnertime,” Ax said. “Do you feel up to going downstairs? You missed lunch.”
“Yes. I want to help the girls, and it will ease the stiffness if I move.”
Ax rolled out of bed and helped her sit up and stand.
