“Los me torra claimthese men.” Ella repeated it over and over. One of the men slapped her hard enough to fall out of the chair. She pressed her hand to her face and smiled up at him. Even in as much pain as she was, she slowly pulled herself up, sat back in the chair, and started chanting again, but this time she looked at each of them. They were all getting a bit nervous, and she had to fight to keep from laughing at the different degrees of anxiety.
“I don’t believe any of this crap,” one man said.
“What does it even mean?”
She looked at him. “What’s your name?”
“Mickey. Why?”
“Do you believe in Satan?”
“Fuck, no.”
She smiled. “That’s okay. He believes in you.”
“What’s that shit you’re talking about?” Leroy said.
“I’m putting a few spells on you. One is that bad things will start happening to you that you can’t explain, and the other is you’ll die a horrible death.”
She closed her eyes and started chanting again.
“Shut the fuck up, cunt!” Frankie screamed.
Ella kept talking.
“I’m going outside,” Westin said.
“I’ll go with you.”
Before that man walked out the door, she stopped him.
“Goodbye, Leroy.”
“How the fuck do you know my name?”
She chuckled. “Mother Earth told me.” Actually, one of the men said his name not so long ago, but they didn’t remember it.
“Jesus fucking Christ,” Leroy said and promptly left.
Chapter Six
A few minutes later, there was a commotion outside, and then Teddy walked in. He looked pissed, but she tried to keep as calm as possible.
“I hear you’re fucking with my men.”
Ella shook her head. “No. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. Don’t worry. I’ve already taken care of you.”
He rolled his eyes, grabbed her arm, and yanked her after him as he dragged her outside and around the side of the house. Before she could brace herself, he started to beat her. She went down, crying out, then curled into a tight ball as he kicked her over and over.
Her life was going to end on a dirty piece of concrete, and no one would ever find her body. It stopped instantly when the fucker paused to talk to someone.
“I’ll be back,” Teddy said.
She heard him walk away and stayed still just in case he was watching her. The coldness of the ground and air permeated her pores, and she started to shiver. She was in nothing but a thin dress, and the weather was starting to turn bad. After she counted to thirty, she opened her eyes into slits and didn’t see anyone. A groan tore from her as she tried to roll but pushed herself. This was her only chance. She started crawling and tried to scream when a hand covered her mouth.
“Hush, Chica, we’re here to get you out. But we have to hurry.”
Another man picked her up, and she was surprised at how gentle he was with her. They took her down an alleyway and into a house a few blocks away. This place looked worse than the one she just came from, but she didn’t have a choice. She was in too much pain to do anything. She’d see how this went.
