Oh no, why did I mention the book? What’s going on this who thing is getting bizarre. “What’s the big deal? It was probably Jill being a jerk, rubbing in my face in everything I missed out on by not having a big wedding.”

“The book?” Cole says again. He wants the book, fine he can have the book because at this moment there’s not one thing I’d do with him in that damn book, except maybe throw it at him. I stomp into the bedroom to my intimates’ drawer. I pull the contents out, letting them fall to the floor. I grab the book. When I turn around, I smack into Cole.

“Gah—Cole, stop scaring me.”

He doesn’t say anything. He’s got the mad look on his face again, the one that’s devoid of emotion. “You hid it?” I push the book into his chest and walk back into the living room. I grab the TV remote and start flipping through channels. Something’s going on that they won’t tell me. If they’re going to keep getting upset with me, the least they could do is tell me why.

Cole comes back into the living room, flipping through the book. He eyes me, but I glare at him. Not a chance buddy, so don’t even think about it. He doesn’t say anything, and a few minutes later, a couple more security guys show up at the villa. They all convene in the kitchen, talking in hushed tones so I can’t hear. Each passing moment makes me more upset. I get up, leaving the television on. I walk up the stairs intending to retreat into the far bedroom; it has a television in it. When I get to the top of the stairs, everyone stops talking. I can’t help myself and I hit the elevator button; it opens immediately.

“Kate!” Cole screams at me. I turn and look at him. “Where are you going?”

“Away from you and your henchmen.” And I get into the elevator. I admit I didn’t realize Cole was so quick. He catches the door in the nick of time. I move to the corner of the lift, crossing my arms. He steps in, letting the elevator close behind him.

“Lobby please,” I sneer. Cole smirks at me, but pushes the lobby button. However, as soon as the elevator’s moving, he pushes the emergency stop button.

“Cookie,” He walks towards me, his megawatt smile lighting his face. I back up until I’m pressed into the corner.

I turn my head in defiance.

It doesn’t deter him. “You knew just where I wanted to go.” His lips caress my neck. I stiffen my body, trying to hold on to my anger. His hands roam my along my back and then slides them up my shirt running his hands along my bare skin.

Cole hits a spot on my neck, and I tremble. I move my head back. “You—” Cole covers my mouth with his. His tongue traces the seam of my lips. I stand there with my eyes open, not kissing him back. His hand is still under my shirt and with a sudden, deft movement, he has my bra undone. I tighten my arms over my chest. He has the nerve to wink at me. His hands are gone. They move around my waist to my maxi skirt, running his fingers under the waistband.

“Cole.” He kisses me tenderly, sucking lightly on my lower lip. I move my hands to stop him from pulling down my skirt, and his hands are under my shirt, each one cupping a breast. With his lips still pressed to mine, I say, “this isn’t going to solve the problem.”

“But it will make us both feel better. Lift your arms, Cookie.” I shake my head no.

Cole lets go of me. I watch him as he removes his suit coat and hangs it over the safety bar. He undoes his tie and untucks his shirt, pulling it over his head, laying it with his coat, then unbuckles his pants. My eyes can’t help but graze over him. His defined muscles etched to perfection. A small fading bruise on his left pec. I smile at the memory of giving him that.

“Your turn.”

I tilt my head. “Sex in the elevator?”

He moves to me, nipping my ear. “Sex in the elevator,” he says seductively. He knows just how to break my resolve.

I pull his head down to mine, wrapping my arms around his neck. Our tongues tangle together in a slow, tantalizing kiss. Cole pulls my panties and skirt down together. I step out of them and he places them next to his shirt. He kneels in front of me, lifting my shirt, kissing my stomach, and flicking his tongue out around my navel. My knees go weak, and he cups my buttocks, squeezing each cheek. He moves his hands down to my inner thighs.

“Looks like my love bite could use a pick me up.” His lips caress the tender spot on my thigh, sucking it gently.

His fingers are between my legs, and he slips one inside. I moan, my knees buckling. Cole stands, leaving his finger there.

I push his pants and boxer briefs down his hips, then wrap my arms around his back. “Oh baby,” Cole says as he trails kisses down my neck. His finger is gone, and I feel his hardness between my legs. He grabs my leg, bringing it around his waist. Lifting me slightly, he slides completely in.

“More,” I moan, pleasure coursing through my body.

“My pleasure, Cookie.”

We rock together.

“Oh god Kate, I love you so much, if anything had happened to you…”

“I love you,” I pant.

“Baby, I need your shirt off. Lift your arms, I need to feel your skin against mine.” I raise my arms and my shirt and bra are gone. Cole enfolds me in his arms, and we meld and move together as lovers.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Cole helps me put my shirt back on. “I don’t want to go back up to the villa with all of Luke’s security guys. Will you take me to get a new phone?”
