“The footage corroborates the boys’ story–as does the footage of you sneaking into an empty classroom with Lucas Matthews a few weeks ago. He’s got a broken nose and you’re unharmed. There isn’t much else I can do, kid.”
I clenched my jaw as I shook my head slowly. What the fuck else could we pile on right now?
I left Kitts’ office feeling defeated and antsy. I needed to hit something. I needed a release in the worst way–the kind that could only be satiated with a target to take out.
“Hey, are you okay? I heard about what happened,” Finn said once I got outside. Class hadn’t started yet so everyone was still meandering around the quad, and most eyes were focused in my direction.
“Great. I got suspended for defending myself against a pervert who put his hands on me. Lucas and his friends wanted to run a train on me in the fieldhouse, and I guess I was supposed to justlet it happen.”
“I’ll take you home. Or wherever you want to go,” Finn said as he hooked his arm around my waist. We had to walk bytheirtable to get to the parking lot. My eyes drifted toward them, observing that every pair of eyes were on me. Including Lauren’s.
“Why don’t you try keeping your legs closed for once?” She shouted, loud enough for the entire quad to hear.
I was going to keep walking, but it pissed me off thathewas looking at me with a scowl. He had no fucking right to look at me.
“Thanks for all of this, by the way,” I said to Kane.
“You think this ismyfault?”
“How did everyone find out about it? How did they hear about the lie you so easily swallowed as the truth?”
“It’s not a lie,” Noah snapped.
“Dude, I would’vebrokeyou if we fucked. I don’t do guys like you and everybody knows it. Make it make sense.” Finn kept his arm around me to hold me back, but I was ready to go.
“Hey Finn, why don’t you get your whore out of here, huh? Nobody wants her here and I’m pretty sure she’s suspended,” Kane said as Lauren giggled.
I thrashed against Finn as he held me back. “Fuck you! I’ve done everything I’ve ever been asked by your damn family and look where it got me? Disloyal motherfuckers.” I kicked like a toddler throwing a tantrum trying to get away from him. For a smaller guy, he was strong as fuck.
“C’mon Dani. Let’s get out of here.”
“None of you would last adayin my life. I hope it was worth it, Gemma. I hope it was worth losing a sister for some guy who doesn’t have theballsto like you in public!” I flailed some more as Finn hauled me away.
So much for keeping her secret, but fuck it. Fuck them and their secrets. I was so tired of keeping secrets.
Finn steered me through the parking lot until we stopped at a black motorcycle with red roses painted on the tank.
“No van?” I huffed, trying to hold myself together. I wasn’t doing a great job.
“I figured since you know about me, I can ride my bike to school now,” he shrugged with a smile. “Watch your legs and hold on.”
Chapter 34
Dani
“Andhedidn’tbelieveyou when you told him it was a lie?” Ashtyn asked as we did our hair in my apartment at Ethereal.
“Nope.”
I’d spent the week bored as shit being suspended from school, trying to get some alone time with Dad’s laptop–which wasn’t easy at all. I’d done enough bug-planting around the house to appease the MC, so I asked Ashtyn to come to Ethereal Friday night and let off some steam.
I wasn’t sure if she’d ever want to come back here after what happened to her, but she said she wanted to check it out voluntarily this time.
I told Ashtyn–no,beggedher–to bring some of her friends along so it wouldn’t be awkward hanging around Kane’s cousin. She brought West and his best friend Axel, who I met on that ill-fated night when she was brought here against her will. Her friends Cade and Gabby were on their way too.
With my new mission being to make Bash happy when he was around, I wouldn’t be riding the pole tonight. Halle-fucking-lujah.
“I can’t believe that. He seemed like he was so into you.”
