“Sure.”
He rolled his eyes and pulled me into his hard chest. If I wanted to, I could fuck him up right now. He was tipsy, and the manhandling was getting old. Dude was on borrowed time because I just had three energy drinks, and I was pissed, and a little bored.
“I’m not done with you yet, sweetheart. You might pretend like you don’t want me now, but I felt how hard your pussy clenched my cock. Those little moans you let out as I pounded into you. The way you scratched the shit out of my back as I rubbed your clit. You might fake a lot of things in your life, butthatwasn’t one of them.”
He was missing the point, but the graphic image he painted stirred something inside of me. It’d be easy to push him into his room and ride him until I came. And then again a few more times.
I was too sober for this shit.
I let out a quiet laugh. “I never said I didn’tlike it. Trust me, I wish I didn’t. I’m saying I’m not about to be your little secret while you’re screwing around with Trust Fund Barbie.” I yanked my arm from his grip. “By the way, I’m having a little get together here on Thursday. West and Ashtyn are coming over. I told her to bring a few friends if she wanted.”
“You…invited people over?”
“Yeah, I know. I think the lack of sex is rewiring my brain, making me social or some shit. Hope you don’t mind,” I said as I turned to leave.
“It’s fine. Better than fine, actually. I’m…looking forward to it.” His shoulders sagged as I inched closer to the stairs.
“I’m gonna crash in Gemma’s room.”
“You still didn’t tell me who she’s with.”
Oh, right…
“Um, I think it was some church group thing. Warding off the devil on Halloween sounds like a great time,” I smiled before turning and bolting for the door.
I knew myself well enough to know that if I didn’t leave, I’d fall into Kane’s bed. That nagging feeling inside of me would continue to grow, taking on a life of its own before I fucking exploded.
I wasn’t a jealous person, but knowing that Lauren had a hold on Kane made me sick to my stomach. I could get through this now, but if we kept fucking, kept being…nice…to each other, I wasn’t sure I could hold it together.
Chapter 18
Kane
“Areyouplaying,Moretti?”Xavier asked as Dani flew down the stairs and out the door. “The fuck did you say to get her to move so fast?”
Apparently anything I said made her bolt in the opposite direction. Ever since we had sex, she’d been…different. Other than the day after, school with her has been weird. The snippy, sarcastic comments have been replaced by the cold shoulder. Even in the classes we shared, she went out of her way to avoid me–sitting across the room, never even looking in my direction.
Lauren being permanently attached to my ass didn’t help.
Yet my mind was consumed with her. Thinking about sinking into her again, taking time to enjoy it instead of a rush fuck while a rapist was dying next to us.
“She was pissed we didn’t tell her everything went okay. She was waiting up for us,” I explained. And I’m sure that was part of the reason why she was pissed, but it also had to do with the L-word.
“She’ll get over it,” Dom said as he smoked a joint. “I’m telling ya, man. Women shouldn’t be involved in our shit. They’re too emotional.”
I tried not to laugh. His sister was a bigger asset to us than he was. Yeah, he was strong and he would do anything you asked him to, but Dani hadskillthat wasn’t easy to find. Skill that came naturally. It wasn’t something that could be taught.
With Dominic, you knew he was a threat. He was tall and muscular, the type of guy you wouldn’t fuck with unless you had a death wish. With Dani, it was easy to underestimate her because she was, well, a woman, for one. She was small and beautiful. No one would ever guess she was downright deadly.
“Would you rather she was a sitting duck like baby Gem?” Xavier asked and I growled. “Hey, it’s the truth. Gio keeps her sheltered.”
Yeah, he does, but it’s better than the alternative. I couldn’t imagine letting Gemma do half the shit Dani did. Just…no.
“And I’m glad for that.”
“Psssh, bro, you have no idea where your sister’s even at right now.” Xavier reached across the pool table and rolled the eight ball into the pocket. “I got a feeling she’s not as innocent as you think.”
“And how would you fucking know?”
