Once Dante was out of the picture–along with Arnold and his brother–the Morettis and the Savage Sinners called a truce, deciding to keep to their own respective businesses. Castle Grove wasn’t as dark as it used to be. I couldn’t explain it, but the aura had lightened once the trash had been removed.
All our lives were lighter since that night of the masquerade ball. Gio had me take over operations of the first floor of Ethereal, which I took to immediately. I planned events, recruited bands, and was currently working on plans for an expansion.
I never knew what I wanted to do with my life, but I felt free now, so whatever I ended up doing in the future—whether it was at Ethereal or somewhere else, I would be happy.
I looked around the party and smiled. There was a mixture of Italians dressed in suits and bikers wearing jeans and cuts.
It was quite the scene having the Sinners at the Moretti’s mansion for Ashtyn and West’s engagement party, but it was also a testament to their love bringing people together. From what I heard from Ashtyn, even though West’s dad wasn’t fond of the Sinners, he put his distaste aside once West told him to get over it or risk losing contact.
Since Ashtyn was locked in a conversation with West’s little sisters, I excused myself to find my man.
He was sitting at a table with Bobby and Theo, staring at me like a fucking stalker. I smiled and bit my lip because the sight of him still made my stomach do backflips.
And don’t forget the pussy flutters.
“Hey handsome,” I said as he pulled me onto his lap.
“Don’t you meanhusband?”
“Kane…”
“What? Don’t you think we should tell them?”
Kane and I had recently gotten back from a trip to Las Vegas. He had some business out there, so the crew and I tagged along to keep him company when he wasn’t in meetings. He surprised me with a black rutilated quartz engagement ring. The stone was pear-cut and surrounded by small diamonds.
Dark and beautiful. It was perfect.
When everyone else was occupied, we snuck away and tied the knot–just the two of us. And the Elvis impersonator.
It was cliché as hell but I loved every single moment. And it was ours.
The only people who knew what we’d done were Bobby, Theo, and Dom.
“We can’t tell everyone the night of West and Ashtyn’s engagement party. That’s tacky and rude as fuck,” I chided.
“But I want everyone to know you’re my wife,” he said as he squeezed my ass.
I ran my fingers through his silky hair, appreciating the fact that this fucked up human chose me for life. We were both lucky to have found each other. To have fought for each other when we could’ve easily given up. We had our issues and fights, but the makeup sex was insane.
Just like us.
“They’ll all know eventually. You know Mom and Dad will make you redo the wedding here once they find out,” Bobby laughed, the sound filling me with warmth. His vocal cord surgery had been successful and he was like a new person being able to communicate with us again.
“You know he’s right so keep your mouth shut,” I smiled. “Or I’ll shut it for you.”
Kane pressed his full lips to mine. “Bad girl.” He kissed me again. “Going to punish you for that later, wife.”
“You better.”
From the Author
Wow…I don’t think I’ll ever get over this feeling of finishing a book. Wild. Surreal.
The roller coaster of emotions went through writing this–every emotion on the spectrum–I felt it. All of it. There were a few times (okay, more than a few times) where I had to pause and take a step back because I got so immersed in the characters and their lives and their problems. I can’t even compute how many hours the characters spent inside my head–just know it was a fuckton.
So much of my time spent writing was also spent listening to music—specifically I Prevail who provided the inspo for the title and the book vibe. Music saved my sanity when I wanted to throw in the towel, hide in my bed, and read all night. It helped keep me centered which was something I desperately needed while hitting this book head-on.
Also a hugeTHANK YOUto anyone who read this, who readThe Chaos You Craveand gave me another shot, who pre-ordered this book (for real, that shook me). Justthank youfor supporting a mediocre self-published author trying to live her dream and make her daughter proud. I appreciate you so much.
