I couldn’t help but smile, biting my lip as Arnold continued to sweat.
He wouldn’t fucking shoot me. I was his only way out of here alive.
Although if I were him, I’d much rather take a bullet than endure the torture coming to him at the Sinners’ clubhouse.
“What is it that you want?” Eli asked. “You’ve taken out Dante. Your brother is dead. What do you want to do now, Arnold?”
He backed us up, keeping his gun on my head. He lowered his mouth to my ear. “We’re getting out of here. Just keep moving with me. We’ll go out the back and find a car.”
I groaned, truly hating my existence and what I was about to do. I turned my head up to look him in the eyes. “Arnold. I missed you so much.”
He froze, his eyes widening.
That was all I needed. That one second of hesitation was all it took.
I elbowed him in the gut and knocked the gun out of his hand. I punched him in the face and he fell to the floor. I kicked him in the stomach and stomped my heel down on his dick for good measure, letting out a sigh of relief as I looked down at the monster of my nightmares.
He was slumped on the floor, helpless.
“Well that’s one way to do it,” Eli chuckled.
A few of the Sinners grabbed Arnold’s arms and yanked him up to haul him out of the warehouse. They muttered something about putting lead in his head for everything he’s done.
“No one shoots him,” a thick, familiar voice said. I couldn’t help the smile on my face. I knew I looked like death because I felt like death, but I was so fucking happy to hear that voice.
I thought I’d never hear it again.
“I have plans,” Kane said as he stepped forward.
“How did you know where to find me?” I asked as he put his tatted hands on my face, cradling me, stroking my lip with his thumb.
“I may have put a tracker in that necklace I gave you,” Bash said with a smirk. “Also, your fucking father shot me. He was aiming for lover boy here, but I jumped in with my bullet proof vest and saved the day.”
“Thank god,” I said as I threw my arms around Kane’s broad shoulders and buried my face in his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me to his body. I felt a little ridiculous in the beautiful gown I was still wearing. I think this situation cemented the fact that me and masquerade balls didn’t mix. “Dad’s dead. Arnold shot him.”
“Fuck, I wanted to do that. My dad wanted to do that. And I know you wanted to do that.”
I nodded and held on even tighter. I was never letting this man go. The thought of never seeing him again tore my heart out.
“I’m so sorry he got to you, sweetheart. I had no fucking clue he was that sick and twisted,” he said, his hot breath caressing my ear. “I didn’t know he was the one who…”
“I know babe.” I kissed his lips lightly, letting it linger as he hoisted my legs up and around his waist. There was no better feeling than being wrapped up in this man. “Let’s get the fuck out of here.”
Myfacewasplasteredagainst a hot surface. My eyes opened, still groggy from sleep, and I admired the swirls of ink in front of me. It wasn’t a hot surface I’d woken up on, it was Kane’s tanned, tattooed chest.
We stayed at the clubhouse the night before. Gio, Alana, and Gemma were going to Winston McKinley’s mansion for the night–just to be safe. Winston’s daughter Avery cleaned up Gio’s gunshot wound and he was recovering nicely.
It was a bloodbath throughout the night. Dad had kept records of the men who were working for him, essentially creating a kill list for us. And each and every man on that list was long gone.
Once my brother heard about everything that happened, he went into a rage, insisting on being the one to knock out most of the list with Xavier’s help. I was glad their names weren’t on the list.
My heart wouldn’t be able to take losing my big brother.
My head throbbed even though I’d taken a handful of aspirin before passing out. I guess that was to be expected when you get hit upside the head.
“How are you feeling?” Kane rasped as his hand moved up and down my back, reminding me that I was naked. Once we got to the clubhouse, he stripped my dress off and bathed me, washing away all the blood and grime and bad energy. I didn’t have it in me to look for a shirt to wear to bed, so I went to sleep naked.
“My head hurts but other than that I feel great.” And I did. Dad and Isaac were gone and Arnold was… “What did they do to Arnold?”
