“And what if it’s not?” I ask. “What if he’s hurt her or wor—” I cut myself off, barely able to think about the possibilities of what he could do to her, let alone say it aloud.

“Are you really going to stand there and refuse to go? To put her at even more risk?”

When Elliot hesitates, a low growl rumbles in Oak’s throat.

“Fine. Reese, let’s go.”

I turn away from Elliot and Theo, ready to dive into a car with the Harriers even if they have something less than pleasant planned for us. It’ll all be worth it for the chance of getting her back.

“Fuck, wait. We’re coming,” Elliot calls, running up behind us. “I’ll drive. I’ve barely drunk anything.”

“Put your fucking foot down, Eaton,” Oak growls as we dive into Elliot’s Aston Martin and he rushes to follow the Harriers from the car park.

Unsurprisingly, they lead us into the heart of Huxton, before driving down the street where I torched that fucker’s car.

My fists curl on my lap, my need to snap that motherfucker’s neck burning through me.

“I’m going to fucking kill him if he’s touched her,” Oak promises.

You and me both.

Despite not saying the words out loud, or at least I don’t think I do, Elliot’s eyes meet mine in the mirror, his brows pinching in concern.

“I fucking hate that cunt,” Theo mutters, thankfully stealing Elliot’s attention.

“Dad will ruin him for this,” Oak promises.

“If we don’t snap his neck first,” I hiss.

Brake lights glow around us and Elliot brings the car to a stop behind theirs before we all dive out, following them down to some abandoned warehouse.

There’s a guy loitering at the corner of the building, and the leader of the little group of Harriers exchanges a couple of words with him before they all turn to us.

“She’s inside,” the guy says. “I’m so fucking sorry, I didn’t think he’d—”

Hearing enough from the pussy who clearly followed that piece of shit Starling blindly into his suicide mission, I pull my arm back and swing as hard as I can. My fist collides with his cheek, sending him flying back into the dirt.

“Fucking pussy,” I roar, diving for him, but a pair of hands grab my upper arms.

“Save it for the cunt inside,” Elliot breathes in my ear, holding me back.

Unable to leave it there, I lift my foot from the ground and slam it into his stomach. He grunts in agony before puking all over himself.

“That’s the fucking least of what you deserve for this,” I growl.

“He doesn’t know you’re here. We won’t get involved.”

Oak shoves the Harriers out of the way and storms toward the door.

“LIV?” he shouts. “OLIVIA?”

He kicks the door open, and it crashes back against the wall a beat before we both run inside.

“LIV?” I boom.

“Oakley.” Her soft yet terrified voice fills the air and we move faster.

“We’re coming,” he bellows, racing through the rabbit warren of a hallway, swinging door after door open in his need to find his sister.
