“Where is he?”

“He’s close by… close enough for my men to hurt him, should that become necessary.”

“It won’t be.” Or at least Kyle hoped it wouldn’t be.

“Good to know. Now, tell me what you know about GigaByte, besides her being a woman.”

Well, dang, that was what he’d been hoping to confirm. His master plan was to give Roberto small amounts of information until he and Hunter were saved.

“I know she’s not been on the web for very long, only six or seven years.”

“Where is she?”

“I’m not exactly sure. It’s not like she posted her home address on the internet.”

Roberto walked so close to Kyle that he could feel the man’s breath on his face.

“Do you want to piss me off, Kyle? Do you want me to hurt your brother? Or maybe your mother when she gets home?”

“No,” Kyle stammered.

“Good. Now you have one hour to find GigaByte.”

“You said I had four,” Kyle countered.

“That was five hours ago.”

Kyle wasn’t able to argue that he’d been asleep when the message arrived, not with Roberto exiting the room and leaving an ape of a man to stand guard.

Not knowing what else to do, Kyle opened his laptop and began his search. He wasn’t sure he’d make the client’s deadline, but hopefully he’d be able to give him something, or else he and Hunter might be killed.

Byte sat across from Ivy,Aria, and Seven, listening to Bench and Ethan discuss the ATF agent. Byte tried to concentrate, but her lack of focus wasn’t lost on her peers. Once Ivy delegated Aria to meet with the agent, with Seven as backup, they turned their attention to Byte.

“What’s going on, Byte?” Ivy asked.

“Nothing. I just have a lot on my mind.”

“Is it the glitches?” Aria asked.

The easy answer would be yes; the truth was more convoluted.

“It has something to do with the kid, doesn’t it?” Seven pressed.

“He won’t be a problem, I’m sure, not after yours and Ghost’s little threat.”

“I don’t believe so either,” Seven admitted. “But there’s something else.”

“Or several something elses,” Aria stated.

The bad thing about working with former spies was they never stopped being spies. How Byte thought she could hide the truth, or at least a portion of it, was beyond her. True, she’d done so in the past, but as Aria had said, there were several things on her plate. She had to give them something, but what? She refused to talk about her mother, which left Karma.

“I started a company years ago that targeted unknown sex offenders.”

“Unknown? How? They are registered,” Aria asked.

“If they are charged. If they go unreported, then they are free to continue raping the innocent,” Byte blurted.
