“Fuck…” I groaned. “Fuuuuck.” Tingles shot down my spine as I came hard, holding her soft body against mine like it was fucking meant for me.
Dayna nuzzled my chest, kissing a little trail up my throat and over my jaw until she was right there. Breathing my air.
“That was amazing.” She beamed at me.
“Give me ten minutes, and we can go again,” I chuckled, rolling off her and flopping back into the sand.
“It’s late. We should probably think about heading back.”
What the fuck?
I glanced over at her and frowned.
“What?” she asked, smoothing down her skirt.
“Are you trying to get rid of me?”
“What? No. I’m just saying we should probably head home.”
“Right. Yeah.” Dejection sat heavy in my chest as I discarded the condom and clambered to my feet. Thankfully, I found some tissue to ball it up in and shoved it in my pocket until I found a trash can.
Caught up in the moment, things had been scorching hot, but now the temperature had turned colder than Lake Erie when it froze over, and I didn’t like it.
“Hey,” she grabbed my arm as I went to walk off. “Are you okay? You’re acting weird.”
“I’m fine.”
“Okay, because I don’t want things to be weird between us, Aiden. Tonight was— it was amazing. Thank you.”
Thank you?
She was thanking me.
I was so fucking confused.
“I’m glad it was you. Now I can move on and…”
I didn’t hear past move on.
She’d used me tomove on.
I was her fucking rebound.
It shouldn’t have bothered me, but it did. Because I’d wanted more than one night, and that was a first for me.
“Aiden?” Dayna smiled.
“Uh, yeah. We’re good.”
“Well then, friend, you can walk me home.” She laced her arm through mine as if she didn’t have a care in the world.
As if she hadn’t just kicked me in the fucking balls.
Friend.
I was pretty sure friends didn’t fuck the way we just had, but what did I know about being friends.
Or anything more than that.
