Sweet baby Jesus, it was a kiss to end all kisses.
A kiss I knew would ruin me for all other kisses.
Aiden’s lips moved against mine with perfect finesse. His tongue snaked out, tasting me, teasing the seam of my mouth until I parted my lips and let him in.
“More,” I murmured, clutching onto his broad shoulders, practically climbing his body.
Our tongues tangled in soft lazy, licks that had my toes curling into the damp sand, sparks firing off around my body.
Aiden was a little more than a stranger, and he definitely wasn’t the kind of guy I needed to get tangled up with. But I couldn’t stop myself. Because kissing Aiden, under the moonlight in my favorite place in the entire world, I’d never felt more alive.
“Feel this.” I grabbed his hand and pressed it against my chest, right over my heart. “Feel how fast it’s beating. You did that.”
“Fuck, Dayna.”
“What?” I grinned up at him.
“You.” He pushed the flyaway hairs out of my face and leaned down, capturing my lips in another bruising kiss.
“Mmm, I like kissing you.”
“You’re drunk,” he said, bopping my nose.
“I am not.” His brow arched, and a small giggle bubbled out of me. “Okay, maybe just a little. But I’m sober enough to know what I want.”
“Are you sure about that?” His hand glided down my spine and over the curve of my ass.
His touch was possessive and full of promises. But it felt good. Right.
“Aid—”
“We should go,” he cut me off, bursting my bubble.
“You can go,” I said petulantly. “I’m not ready to leave yet.”
“Dayna—”
But I’d already yanked out of his hold and dropped down onto the sand, lying on my back and staring up at the inky night sky. “It’s so beautiful,” I sighed.
“Yeah,” he replied.
But when I looked at him, he wasn’t looking at the sky; he was watching me.
“I thought you were leaving.”
“You thought wrong.” Aiden kicked off his sneakers and sat down beside me.
“I won’t tell anyone… about the kiss.”
“Good.”
A strange sensation went through me. Was he ashamed of me? Or was he just worried about what Carson would say?
Silence enveloped us. A minute ago, things had been flirty and fun, but now things felt strained. Like I’d messed everything up by asking him to kiss me.
I threw an arm over my eyes and let out a heavy sigh.
“Freckles?”
