“You want to eat dirty fries and drink beer at Moonies?” He looked at her like she’d lost her mind.
“What the fuck is a Moonies?” I asked.
“It’s a dive bar in Dupont Beach.”
“You and Dalton used to love sneaking into that dive bar, if I remember correctly.”
“Dirty fries and beer sound like my kind of place,” I said. “I’m in.”
“I knew I could count on you, hotshot.”
It was a dig. Her attempt at getting under my skin. And fuck me if it wasn’t working.
“This is a bad idea,” Carson said, pulling that older brother-responsible coach routine he loved so much.
I clapped him on the back and smirked, still holding Dayna’s gaze.
“Bad ideas are the best kind.”
CHAPTER10
AIDEN
“What did I tell you?”Carson murmured, tipping his beer in the direction where Dayna was laughing with a couple of older women. “This was a bad fucking idea.”
“Relax, she’s just cutting loose.”
“Are you going to hold her hair later when her dirty fries make a reappearance?”
“Maybe I will.”
“Over my dead fucking body.” He glowered at me.
“Chill, I’m joking.” Mostly.
The truth was, I liked Dayna like this. Goofy and drunk. She wasn’t wasted, but she had a nice buzz thanks to all the liquor she’d drank since we arrived at Moonies.
“Whew.” She flounced over and flopped down beside me. “I need a drink.”
“Water.” Carson shoved a bottle toward her. “You need water.”
“Carson Bear Walsh, I am—”
“Hold up, Bear? Your middle name isBear?”
“You didn’t know?” Dayna grinned.
“No, no, I did not,” I smirked at Carson, and he flipped me off.
“If you say anything to the rest of the team, I’ll—”
“You’ll what, Coach? Bench me? You don’t have that kind of power.”
“No, but I can make you skate drills until your legs fall off.”
“Oh my God.” Dayna slammed her palms down on the table, making our drinks rattle. “I love this song. Come on, Cars, dance with me.”
“Oh no, Bug. You’re on your own with this one.”
