She studied her older brother. “I think you need to find a mate. You don’t have a life.”

“That won’t happen for a long time.”

“You never know when Fate will strike.” She hugged Mason. “If you do follow Brad, be careful.”

He dipped his chin. “I will, but once I have a few more sessions with Alex and Liam under my belt, those vigilantes won’t stand a chance.”

She chuckled. According to Ariel, Benson said Alex and Liam were great teachers, but not all people were meant to fight, though her older brother had surprised her in the past. “You might want to call Dad and let him know about the recording.”

He grinned. “I already did.”

Of course he did. Tawny left and walked across Harm’s Way Road to the Double G Bar. When she didn't see Will tending the bar or cleaning up, she snagged another worker and asked if he could find Will for her.

Her cousin came from out of the back a minute later and grinned. “This is a nice surprise.”

“Can we talk?”

“Ah, those are three little words that a man never wants to hear.”

“Funny.”

“Sure. Come into my office.”

If it weren’t so cold out, she might have suggested they step outside in case someone had planted a bug in his bar. Once she sat down, she texted Mason, asking him if he had swept Will’s office yet. He answered right away. Yes to the office, but no to the whole bar. That worked for her.

"What's up?" he asked.

“There’s a slim chance that we might have identified Zach’s shooters.”

Will sat up straight. “Who?”

“I think Mason is wrong about this, but if he’s right, we’ll need your help.”

“Absolutely. Anything.”

Tawny told him about the phone call between Julia and her brother. “They didn’t say anything incriminating, but since Brad was injured—supposedly on the ski slope—it’s possible he was actually shot in the leg instead, and Julia doesn’t want him to go to a doctor’s office. The doctor would have to report the shooting.”

“I’m guessing your dad didn’t find the bullet lodged in the wall of the garage then?”

“Not yet. That being said, Joe’s Garage is so full of stuff, it could be anywhere. It’s not like they can use a metal detector or anything.”

“What can I do to help?” he asked.

“On the off chance that Julia is involved, could you ask her out on a date and see what she’s up to?” Tawny held up a hand. “I’m not saying sleep with her. I don’t want her to stab you in the heart in the middle of the night, but she might receive a phone call that sounds strange.”

“Do you have her number?”

“I can get it. I can say that you’d been asking about her.”

He nodded. “Works for me, though the whole idea of having humans out to kill us creeps me out.”

“Me too. One last thing. Have you hired anyone in the last two to three months?”

“Terry. He’s my new bartender who works Thursday through Sunday nights. You think he could be involved in some way?”

She hated to point a finger at an innocent person. “What better way to keep an eye on where the Grangers are than to work for them. Julia works for me, and Brad now works for Mason. At least your dad only hires werewolves, so he’s safe.”

“Shit. Mom got a new maid recently.”
