“Sure it does.” Alex winked. “Come on in. Zach is out back with Liam.”

“Doing what?” she asked as she stepped inside.

“Zach said if he didn’t run around a little, he’d go crazy, so Liam is there to make sure nothing else happens to him.”

Not even Liam could stop a bullet meant for Zach, but she didn’t need to say that. “I appreciate it.”

She placed the backpack with Zach’s things on the counter that separated the living room and the kitchen and then checked out the home. The living room had a brown L-shaped sofa that faced a television on one side and a picture window on the other. It was cozy. “Nice place.”

“It came furnished. It’s not totally my style, but it is comfortable. Let me show you to your room.”

The room was about ten feet away and was quite spacious even with a king-sized bed in the middle. An open door off to the side showed a rather luxurious bathroom, complete with a garden tub and large shower. “This is nicer than my place.”

He wiggled his eyebrows. “You’re welcome to stay for as long as you like.”

When his eyes flashed golden, her core tingled. The temptation to kiss him shocked her. Now’s not the time.

“Come on,” Alex said. “I’ll show you the downstairs.”

Thankful for the distraction, she followed him down the stairs, which ran parallel to the entrance hall. The basement was very large with one corner filled with some gym equipment. Mats covered the rest of the floor space.

“This looks great, but no boxing ring?”

Alex laughed. “We teach men how to tackle and take down a person rather than punch the shit out of them, though we do cover that. Most of the work takes place outside in our wolf form.”

That’s where they would fight to the death—or until the other wolf was no longer a threat—in a real battle.

“How long before you can move your business here?”

“We were hoping to be all set up by the end of the month, but then some lady in distress needed our help.” Good thing he smiled or she would have had more guilt heaped on her.

“I’ll try to send a lot of clients your way to make up for it.”

Alex moved closer, and her heart raced. “I can think of a lot of ways you can make it up to us—or to me, depending on your preference.”

Tawny didn’t think he could be any more obvious, but in case she was wrong, she asked him, “Care to clarify?”

“Love to.” Alex pulled her close, leaned over, and kissed her.

Whoa! Her body caught on fire. Never had a kiss done anything like this to her before. Alex teased open her lips, and she decided to throw caution to the wind and let him in. His clean taste exploded in her mouth as he darted his tongue in. His thrusts weren’t overly demanding, but they were enough to let her know he wanted to be there as much as she wanted him to be.

On impulse, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her body hard against his, his cock making an indentation in her stomach.

Alex cupped the back of her head and groaned. It was almost as if she was giving a drink of water to a parched man. She closed her eyes in order to indulge in the sensations that were electrifying her. How could she want someone this much?

“Way to go, sis.”

Oh, shit.Tawny lowered her arms and stepped back. “Sorry,” she whispered.

Alex didn’t seem embarrassed in the least. In fact, he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. “You have nothing to be ashamed about, but I could give you a few pointers on how to kiss.”

Tawny jerked out of his embrace and punched him as hard as she could in the stomach. Alex let out a huge belly laugh.

“Okay, you two. Get a room,” Liam said.

She couldn’t tell if he was upset or not, but her brother was grinning.

“You look better,” she told Zach.
