“You think these vigilantes will try again?”

“It’s a strong possibility,” she said.

“You need to stay dead until this blows over unless you want them to kill you for real this time,” Alex said.

“Well, shit. I was looking forward to getting out of here. Not that Aunt Corrine and Uncle Augustine aren’t great, but I like being in the woods.”

“We have a possible solution,” Alex said.

“What is that? Have me hide in our family cabin? I can do that.”

She was afraid he’d suggest that alternative. “We just stayed there, which means someone might find it.”

“Then what?” he asked.

CHAPTERELEVEN

“We havea large farmhouse that we rent on the outskirts of town,” Liam told Zach. “It has three bedrooms and a large basement that we are converting into a facility for teaching werewolves how to fight effectively. You can stay there. If you want to shift into your wolf form, you can chance running around in the woods.”

Tawny held her breath, hoping her twin would agree. “I’ll be staying in the third bedroom. Alex and Liam are worried about me being by myself, too.”

Zach glanced between the three of them. “How much of a choice do I have? I don’t want to put anyone else at risk. And I don’t want them to figure out that it’s hard as hell to kill us.”

Tawny smiled. “No choice.”

Zach slapped his thighs and stood. “Let’s go.”

“Really?” She expected a lot more backlash.

“You said I had no choice, right?”

“Right, you don’t.” Now came for the hard part. “I’m afraid that in order to transport you incognito, you’ll need to shift and go in a cage.”

“Ah, that’s a big fat no. How about if Aunt Corrine moves her car out of the garage, and you pull yours in? I’ll stay down the whole time while you drive me to Alex and Liam’s place.”

Alex looked over at Liam who she suspected was telepathing with him. “That can work, but once we arrive at our place, even though it’s in the middle of the woods, we’ll need to place a blanket over your head,” Alex said.

“Seriously? This is necessary?”

“Yes.”

“You really think there are spies everywhere?” Zach asked.

“We can’t be too careful,” Alex said.

“Fine. Whatever.” Zach turned to Tawny. “What about my clothes and stuff? I’ll need something to change into.”

Tawny hadn’t thought of that. “I can go to your place and stuff a few things in a bag. I don’t think anyone would question it.”

“Zach, we’ll drive you to our place since Tawny needs to get back to work.” Alex faced her. “Do you think we can borrow a blanket from your aunt? We don’t want to chance Zach being seen.”

“Can do.”

After collecting a wool blanket from Aunt Corrine, and Liam exchanging places in the garage with her aunt, they were on their way.

Tawny headed back to town to see her dad since he’d want to know how things turned out. Once at the sheriff’s department, she rushed inside.

“Hey, Tawny. Everything good?” Elana sounded a lot more hopeful than she had this morning. Dad must have told her Zach was on the mend.
