“I can’t leave now because he’ll see me.” My eardrums pulsed from fear as I relived Bram’s hands around my throat.

Carson cocked his head towards a door by the cloakroom. “Go in there. That’s where we sit for our break. When he’s inside, I’ll let you know so you can leave. Okay?”

My palms had gone all sweaty and my mouth had turned dry, such was the Bram effect.

I released a tight breath. Carson had come to my rescue again. He may not have taken to me as a woman, but he was watching my back. And right then, I needed protection more than hot sex.

Chapter 2

Carson

AsIgesturedforhim to enter, Bram, sporting a neck full of tats, shuffled past, wearing “wanker” all over his doped-up face.

I couldn’t understand how a gorgeous and sophisticated woman like Savanah could fall for such a self-entitled jerk. But then she wasn’t alone. Since working at that exclusive club, I’d noticed that girls fell for dickheads like him all the time.

“Hey, Steve, I’m going for a quick break. Back in five,” I said.

On entering our private space, I found Savanah staring down at her phone.

She was one of the reasons I hadn’t taken Declan’s offer to run Reboot. Just smelling her musky perfume roused memories of her sexy body rubbing against mine. Something told me that once I had a taste, I wouldn’t be able to stop. So I kept my distance instead because when I thought of Savanah, the word “complicated” came to mind.

“He’s inside. The coast is clear.” I rolled my lips as tension took a hold of my senses, which had nothing to do with her drugged-out ex.

“Thanks so much.” She returned an uneasy smile, mirroring mine.

In that elegant blue dress that hinted at what lay beneath, Savanah’s beauty, as always, captivated me.

Those wide hypnotic blue eyes made me lose my tongue again, and I couldn’t string a coherent line around her.

As she held my stare, waiting for me to speak, I splayed my palms. “Is there something else?”

“You didn’t return my calls. Any reason?” Slanting her pretty face, she became that rich girl who clicked her fingers and got what she wanted.

“Sorry.” I scratched my prickly jaw. “I’ve had a lot on lately.”

She looked down at her feet. “I thought it could have been because of what happened.” Her arched eyebrow raised.

Is she referring to the way she pressed her soft hand against my swollen cock?

“I’m not sure what you mean.” Never good at bullshitting, I shifted on the spot.

“Oh, come on, Carson. Don’t go all coy on me.” She teased me with a smile, which sent a bolt of heat to my dick.

“I’ve got to get back.” I turned to leave.

“Am I just not your type?”

She’d gone deadpan and unreadable, although I think I caught a hint of insecurity in her eyes.

I exhaled while searching for the right response. “You’re beautiful, Savanah. Never doubt that.”

She kept scrutinising me as though trying to read more into my words. “Are you gay?”

I had to laugh. “Nope. One hundred percent into women.” I scratched my neck. I had this sudden urge to fuck her against the wall and show her just how much I liked pussy. “Okay then. Bye.” I turned away. “By the way, if he’s as bad as you say, you need to get a restraining order.”

She looked lost, and I felt like a prick for abandoning her. “I’m meant to be working.”

“I’ll follow you out and make a dash for it. And hey…” She paused and then tranced me out with her mesmerising eyes. “Thanks. I owe you one.” She flicked me a flirty smile.
