“Whatever,” Dante mumbles, waving off whatever Tommy said, sipping his coffee, not bothered in the slightest.

“Well, well, well. What time do you call this?” Tommy’s question is filled with humor.

“Fuck off.” I know where this is headed, so I go straight for the coffee instead of engaging.

He laughs but doesn’t stop, as usual. “Don’t fucking blame you, cuz. I wouldn’t sleep all night either if I had her in my bed.”

I stop at his words, turning to face him with hard eyes, wondering if he really just said that about my future wife. Especially after finding him and Lilly hitting it off.

“Come again?” My voice expresses my warning, the jealousy and possessiveness taking over.

“Shit, my bad.” Tommy sits up straight, throwing his hands up in surrender. “It’s gonna take some time to get used to.

I relax a little, but my gaze still holds his.

“Have you told your old man yet?” he says, smartly changing the subject.

Although, this one is not much better. It’s a conversation I bet my father thought would never happen and it’s not something I’m looking forward to.

“On my to do list today.” I make a mental note and pour myself some coffee.

“He’s going to go nuts. He’ll have the women plan your wedding by Friday. All done.” Tommy says.

“I’ll put a thousand on Thursday.” Dante can’t say no to good odds.

“Done.” They shake hands, both smiling.

They’re not far off. If my father had it his way, he’d have me married by tonight, just to make sure I don’t change my mind. A lump forms in the back of my throat as reality sets in. I’m getting married, which I swore I’d never do, and to a woman who doesn’t want anything to do with me. It’s too early to process that, so I concentrate on the day ahead.

“Tommy, take Lilliana shopping today, wherever she wants to go.” I lean back against the bench-top and sip my coffee.

“Fine by me,” he says, sounding a bit too happy about spending the day with my future wife.

As much as it bugs me that Lilly seems to have hit it off with my cousin instead of me, I trust Tommy to protect her, so I tamper down my irrational jealousy.

“Swing by and get Vin and Mick. Tell them to stay back, she is a sneaky one.” My lips curve into a smirk around the rim of the cup, just thinking about last night’s shenanigans.

Tommy nods, already on his phone setting it up.

“It’s a lot of trouble,” Dante says, but I ignore the comment for now.

“You come with me today. We’ll go sort out Billie.”

“Billie?”

“Yeah. I’m over the headache.”

“You gonna clean out his misses?” Dante frowns, already knowing the situation.

He means, am I going to take her car and the money in her savings account, which as a single mother would mean eventually leaving her out on the street.

The answer is no.

But a maybe at the same time. The guy owes us money and according to him, that’s where it is.

“Let’s go see the mechanic. He’s the only one Billie’s been in contact with.” I finish my short black and drop my cup in the sink.

For some reason, the lowlife that throws his family under the bus is only in communication with his cousin. But he has to have more money because he sure as hell doesn’t have my drugs. We just need to find him, then collect. Simple.
