“Yeah, but I want you to keep your energy until we’re back home,” he smirks and winks, and I roll my eyes dramatically.
“We’ll see.” I lean back into my seat and hum along to the song playing on the radio.
It’s a lie. I don’t have to wait and see. We both know I’m just as likely to jump his bones as he is mine. And, who can blame me? He’s fucking hot.
We drive another half an hour until we pull into a familiar street in Surrey Hills. I frown and turn in my seat, and he’s already looking at me with that sexy smirk on his face.
“It’s a bit early to take me dancing.” I eye him suspiciously knowing his club is just down the road.
“The only dancing you’re going to be doing is of the horizontal kind.”
That makes me laugh, and I know he means it. It’s been hard on him, seeing me like I was. So, I am giving him some time to deal. I know he’s only trying to protect me and keep me safe, but eventually he’ll have to get over it and realise I am not porcelain, and I didn’t break.
Ren turns into the back carpark and parks in his usual spot.
“Stay there, I’ll get your door,” he says turning off the car.
I sigh, loud and heavy.
This time he laughs. “Because I am a gentleman, not because you can’t do it yourself.”
“You’re just lucky I love you.”
He leans over and kisses me, his lips are soft and warm, and rests them on mine. “Yes, I am.”
My heart flutters and I can take the sweet overprotective Ren for the rest of my life. He pulls away and gives me a quick kiss on the nose, reaches into the back seat, collecting a blue folder and hops out of the car. Then opens my door and takes my hand.
We don’t enter through the back door, instead he leads me around the alley and to the front. I continue to walk towards the door, but he pulls me back.
“There’s something I want to show you first,” he says and slowly lifts his head to the top of the building.
My eyes follow, and then I gasp. “You changed the name?”
The sign has the same sexy design as before, but it now says, ‘Queen of Sin’.
“I did,” he says proudly. “I thought it should reflect the new owner of the club.”
My head swings back at him, frowning. “New owner?”
He smiles back at me, one that tops all the others as he hands me the blue folder. “Open it.”
I do as I am told, wondering what could be inside. My eyes widen, and my mouth drops open. It’s the deed to the building, the club and the keys.
“What… I… what?” Words seem to have escaped me.
“It’s yours, baby.”
I feel tears prickle behind my eyes, the enormity hitting me. “Ren, I can’t it’s too much.”
“It’ll never be enough for you.” He steps forward and cups my face. “The club is yours. It’s in your name, the papers are in there to confirm it. And I promise it will always be clean.”
I smile through tears. “It’s mine?”
“Yours.”
“Oh my god,” I shout as I throw myself into his arms. “Thank you.” I pause to kiss him. “Thank you,” and kiss him again. “Thank you,” and again and again.
He holds me to him, and I can feel his smooth lips smile against me before he pulls away.
