If you ask me, they are all weak, and one day, I will come back to this life with a dick way bigger than any of theirs and make them all pay.
Hmph, I’ve literally lost it.
“Here.” Sergei clicks his fingers for Milosh to hop into action. “I’ve kicked in an extra 200k as a thank you.” Milosh throws a duffel bag Ren’s way.
Look at that, isn’t he raining in the money? What a lucky day for him.
“I like the blonde.” Sergei licks his lips with a dangerous lust in his eyes. “I think we’ll keep it.”
Right, well, now I fucking hate my hair. Urgh. Men. Ruin. Everything.
“Come, Moya Liubov’.” My love apparently in Russian, although from my understanding I don’t think psychopaths are capable of love, but he likes to pretend he is. “We’ve got big plans at home.”
My stomach churns with disgust, and like a good little lamb, I take my first step toward my shepherd.
A hand reaches across me, stopping me in my tracks. It takes a moment to realise Ren’s closed the gap between us and is standing by my side.
“Change of plans,” he says and doesn’t acknowledge Sergei’s growl instead he focuses on my father. “I’m keeping her.”
I widen my eyes in shock, and the look Sergei sends my way, makes me weak at the knees. My father laughs, and my eyes narrow at him, wishing that I could wipe the smile off his face. I really, really hope Ren goes for the kneecaps like I’ve suggested.
“Oh boy, you are funny,” my father says. “Just take the money and give me my daughter. Trust me, she isn’t worth your headache.”
And breathe… let it roll off.
“She’s mine,” Sergei says.
He just can’t help but stay out of it.
Ren turns to him for the first time acknowledging his existence. “She’ll never be yours.”
Sergei doesn’t miss the challenge in Ren’s eyes and his cruel lips curve into a sick smirk. “Oh, I’ve already had all of her, many times.”
Shame flames to my cheeks, and I feel sick to my stomach from the truth of his words. The world could do me a massive solid and open up and swallow me whole right now. I’d be grateful.
“I need a wife.” Ren turns to my father. “And your family needs to elevate from the substandard you’ve been slumming around with. So, keep the money as part of the deal.”
My mouth falls open, and I close it before Sergei notices my response to another man. That’s just suicide. But what is Ren thinking? It’s totally come out of nowhere. Not like I’m not grateful he at least isn’t trying to hand me back and has a conscious in him somewhere. But he’s really digging my grave deeper. There’s no way it will stop this from happening and if he just listened to me earlier and let me go, we wouldn’t be in the situation to begin with.
“Boy, the money is irrelevant. This deal was brokered long ago, and your measly mil won’t do. Hand Sergei back his wife and go looking in your own backyard.”
Silence fills the air, and the pressure of their stares is making me squirm. Sergei’s dead eyes find mine, and I can’t look away from the demon staring back at me. I see the questions in them, what have I said and done with Ren that explains why he’s so insistent on keeping me?
This couldn’t have gone worse even if Sergei found me himself. I’m truly fucked.
“The docks,” Ren says, whatever that means
I hear shuffling and grunts behind us from Ren’s men. They don’t seem too pleased about it, but stay quiet.
“What did you say?” My dad’s eyes go wide with interest.
“No!” Sergei steps up towards my father. “We have a deal, and I have been very fucking patient.”
My father puts his hand up to silence him, and at the show of disrespect, guns are drawn. First from Sergei’s side, followed by my fathers and of course Ren’s.
Shit, this could become a bloodbath.
Ren is the first to speak. “I keep the money you owe my family and give you back the run through our docks. You give me the contract in the West… ”
