Chapter Seven

Jayden

––––––––

FUCK.

I sat up, my cock straining against the front of my jeans. “What?”

“I have to go.”

“Now?”

Was she joking?

She yanked up the front of her dress, cupping those perfect tits back in her bra, hiding them from my view. It was sacrilege to keep them hidden.

“Yes, I’m sorry. I really should go.”

I tried to process what had just happened. “Why? Because we were making out?”

Her cheeks flushed a pretty shade of pink. Her lips were swollen from the kisses and still wet. I wanted nothing more than to cover her with my body and feast on every inch of her skin.

“Why did you come here if this isn’t what you wanted?”

She didn’t meet my eye. “I came here to give your sister’s clothes back and to pick up my shoes.”

“I didn’t give a fuck about Hallie’s clothes, and you could have sent someone round for the shoes or I could have had a courier send them over.”

Her tongue flicked across her lower lip. “I didn’t want anyone to know I’d been here.”

I set my jaw. “Bullshit. Tell me why you really came.”

“I-I don’t know. I just wanted to see you.”

“Because you wanted this.” I motioned between us.

Whatever this was.

Her eyes widened. “No!” But then she glanced away. “Yes...maybe.”

How could she deny the chemistry between us? I was as surprised as she was. While I didn’t hold her responsible for the wrongs her family had caused me, the last person I’d ever wanted to get involved with was a Gilligan. I should ask her to leave and cut off all ties now, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’d got a taste of her and discovered I wanted more.

Maybe it was just because of who she was that left me feeling this way.

Was it because she was the one unattainable person in my life, and that’s the reason I wanted her?

Ivy climbed off the sofa. “I still should go. In fact, this”—she waved between us in the same way I’d done moments before—“is even more reason for me to go. It can’t happen. It just can’t. We’re from two opposite sides of the track.”

“Hallie and Tam work,” I pointed out.
