“None. I’ll have to go to my sister’s sooner rather than later, and that’ll be enough.” He sounded less than happy about it, although she knew he respected his sister’s partner, Camden.

They took their seats and scanned the crowd.

Now, all they needed was for Westley to make an appearance.

CHAPTERSEVENTEEN

Standing in the doorway of the old mansion, Bennett listened to the swell of music from the string quartet.

The newly married couple beamed at each other as they walked back down the aisle, smiling and waving at their family and friends. They headed around to the terrace, their guests rising to follow.

He saw Kitty with her husband. The pair looked frigid.

Even though she couldn’t see him, Bennett glared at the woman.

She’ll be back behind bars soon.

First, they needed her to lead them to Westley.

Bennett looked around. No one in the crowd leaped out as being a criminal with a vendetta against Bennett.

Who the hell was it?What had Bennett ever done to deserve the havoc this bastard had wreaked.

Then he saw Hadley.

She was on the arm of Hawke, and Bennett’s gut tightened. Damn, they made a stunning couple, which he hated on principle.

She was in your bed this morning, making love with you.

That thought soothed him a little. He let his gaze run over her. The pink dress made him think of the first kiss of dawn. Did she have her vest on? His gaze lingered on the swell of her breasts.

She’d have it on. She’d known how important it was to him.

She lifted her head, spied him, then looked at him for a millisecond before looking away.

He watched her touch her earrings. The ones he’d given her.

Then she and Killian swept past to the terrace for drinks and the pre-lunch dancing.

Bennett straightened his white chef’s jacket. He needed to get back to the kitchen and get his work done before he was missed. He really, really wanted to be out here searching for Westley, but he didn’t want to ruin their chance of that happening.

As soon as Hadley spotted Westley, she’d let him know.

His hand clenched and unclenched. He stalked through the stately rooms, with their elegant wallpaper and artwork in huge gold frames.

As he walked, he heard the beautiful, stirring Air on the G String being played by the quartet.

And then the perfect image of Hadley walking down the aisle popped into his head.

He almost missed a step.

He could picture her clearly in a stunning white dress, love shining on her beautiful face as she walked toward him.

His chest tightened.Hell. He wanted that.

More than anything.

Maybe once this mess was over, he’d give his mum that summer wedding she dreamed about.
