After a rather long shower, that while extremely pleasurable, probably wasn’t that great for the environment, Bennett sat at the kitchen island while Hadley cooked.

He kept getting sidetracked. She wore wide-legged, black slacks, and a one-shouldered twist of dark-green fabric that formed a very interesting shirt. His gaze kept straying to her bare shoulder.

He made himself check his messages and emails. She swiveled and expertly served up the omelets.

“This smells great,” he said.

“I’m a woman of many talents.”

He ate a forkful and moaned. “Tastes great too.”

They were only half finished when her phone rang. He saw some of the easy happiness bleed out of her eyes.

“It’s Killian.” She put the phone on speaker. “Hey, Kill.”

“Hadley. Knightley. I’m at MI6. Wentworth cooperated, and Westley made contact.”

Bennett sucked in a breath.

“You and Knightley get down here. Now.”

“We’re on our way.” She met Bennett’s gaze.

He nodded and rose. “Let’s go. I guess half an omelet isn’t bad.”

Her lips quirked. “We’ll get to eat a full breakfast together one day.”

They wasted no time getting to MI6. Once they passed through security, they headed up to where Kitty was being held.

David and Killian met them there.

“What have you got?” Bennett asked.

“Westley emailed,” David said. “We tried to track it, but our guys couldn’t follow the trail. It was bounced through several servers in several different countries.”

“Hex got a little bit further,” Killian said. “The call originated in Romania, but she couldn’t narrow it down any more than that.”

“So the fucker isn’t very far away,” Bennett said.

“And he’s on his way here,” Killian said.

Hadley sucked in a breath, and Bennett stiffened.

“He asked Kitty if she was compromised,” David said. “She did an impressive job of telling him that Bennett was breathing down her neck, but she’d managed to avoid him so far. Westley wants to meet her in person.”

Bennett felt a leap of excitement. “When? Where?”

“Tomorrow,” Killian said.

“At the wedding of Kitty’s son,” David finished.

“Hell,” Bennett said.

“There will be a big crowd, and it’s being held at a private country estate,” Killian said. “Easy for him to stay hidden.”

Hadley crossed her arms. “I don’t like this. He could know we’re onto him. This could be a trap.”

“It’s a risk we have to take,” Bennett said.
