Chelsea rolled her eyes again. “I know what your talks are. I’m going to help here and then play cards. I’ll come get you when I’m done.”
Crush scowled down at Chelsea with his hands on his hips. “Since when do you tell me how it will go?”
“Since we’re not in the bedroom, big guy.”
If anything, Crush’s expression darkened. “We’ll discuss this later, babe.”
Chelsea went up on her tiptoes and kissed his chin, the only thing on his face she could reach. “Okay.”
Crush grunted and cursed under his breath, turned, and walked out.
Chelsea crouched beside her again.
“Why do you like messing with him so much?” Harley smiled.
“Did you see the cute mean expression on his face? God, it just heats me up.”
Harley laughed.
“I heard that,” Crush said.
She looked at Harley, and her eyes widened. “I thought he left,” she mouthed.
Harley shrugged and pressed a hand over her mouth to keep from laughing. “I thought he did too,” she whispered.
Harley saw the boots first and then the denim.
“Woman, did you just call me cute?” he yelled.
Harley had to bite her lip at the expression of stubbornness on her friend’s face.
“Yeah, I was talking to my friend. What’s it to you?”
Harley was afraid to look up at Crush but couldn’t help it. He looked surprised, and then his brows snapped together. He reached over Harley, snagged Chelsea, and lifted her like she didn’t weigh anything.
“Shit,” Chelsea said. “Tell the girls I’ll see them later.”
Harley laughed and waved. “Okay.”
“You’ll be busy later, woman,” Crush said.
She had no idea she’d been staring off into space until someone cleared their throat next to her. She looked up to see Ax and smiled.
“Hi. Do you need anything?” she asked.
Ax crouched next to her. “I see that look on your face sometimes.”
“What look?”
“Envy.”
“I’m…”
“I get it, and I hate that you have to watch all the couples.”
Harley smiled again. “I enjoy seeing their happiness.”
“I know. What really gets me is your look of almost desperate need on your face like you’ll never have what they do.”
