“Put your hands on me.”

“Where?”

Reaching down, I took her by the wrist and placed her palm on my thigh. “Here.”

“Gavin—”

“What was that?”

Her gaze flicked to meet mine. “My lord.”

“Very good. Now suck my cock like you were born for it.”

She lowered her head, and my fingers threaded in the silk mass of hair I’d been craving. I gripped the strands tight enough that she cried out, goosebumps erupting across her bare back. Fuck me, I could feel the soft whisper of her breath across my crown.

Her reaction to that first hint of pain was nearly my undoing. We’d barely begun her introduction, and she was already a natural. So responsive. So eager to please.

She licked me right as the door opened.

“What the hell is this?” Daniel’s voice broke through the veil of this trial session with my Roslyn.

She tensed, her whole demeanor changing as I released my hold on her hair.

“I’m quite busy,” I gritted out.

“Was I not satisfactory, my lord?”

“You’d dare question me?”

“You said she didn’t matter. She wasn’t enough. Just a business transaction.”

I clenched my jaw, feeling Roslyn’s eyes boring into me as she slipped away. I didn’t meet her gaze, too furious at the interruption to deal with her tender feelings. “Get out,” I snarled.

“Don’t bother,” she said, gathering her clothes and hastily putting them on. “I’m leaving.”

She shoved past Daniel, rushing toward the stairs, her hair flying behind her like dark waves on a stormy sea.

Daniel dropped to his knees with a wicked smirk, beginning to crawl toward me. Guilt swarmed around me. I shouldn’t have used him to work through my own struggles. “Get up,” I commanded.

He did as he was told, but the incredulity in his eyes spoke volumes.

“Earlier was a mistake.”

“My lord, I know you tried to break things off before the wedding, but... I had hoped you’d come to your senses. She doesn’t understand you. She’s not made for you like I am. Roslyn Blackthorne is a precious princess. She could never be what you need.”

I stood, rage boiling at the surface. “Keep her name out of your mouth.” Then I stared through him as though he’d never existed at all.

He gaped at me. “I-I’m sorry, my lord.”

“We are through. To ensure you get the message this time, pack your things. I want you gone in the next hour.”

“Gavin, please.”

“Your insolence knows no bounds. Do not embarrass yourself further. Leave.”

I couldn’t bring myself to feel anything more than apathy at the sight of the tears shimmering in Daniel’s gaze. I’d never had feelings for him, but clearly he’d developed them for me. I should have ended things sooner. It was my own fault for allowing the lines to be blurred. Sexual release and love were two different things in my world. I’d never loved anyone, and I’d made him no promises. He knew what he was getting when we entered our arrangement.

Roslyn, however...
