“Her number?”

“Her phone number. You know, how you’d get ahold of her if something happened to Baby Bear.”

“Uh, I don’t have it. It’s on a sticky note at my house.” I smile sweetly. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be. Luckily for you, my brothers and I are good at finding things like that. What’s your address?”

“My address?”

“Did you get water in your ears, angel?”

“Uh, no?”

He grins. “You keep repeating everything I say, so I wondered if there was water in your ears. Give me Mrs. Bear’s address and I’ll have her number in no time.”

Crap. Crap. Crap.

“Unless there is no Mrs. Bear…”

I yawn. “Gosh, I’m tired. Mind if I get some rest?”

None of them move. Damn them.

“Fine. There’s no Mrs. Bear. Happy?”

“And Baby Bear?”

“No Baby Bear, either.”

Atticus tilts his head back, laughing. His brothers seem surprised, but I like it. His laugh makes me happy for some reason.

“Fuck, you’re something else, angel.”

“So I can go then?”

“No.”

Ugh. This man. I take it back. He doesn’t make me happy. He makes me angry. And a bit horny if we’re being honest.

“What are you going to do? Tie me to the bed?”

“Now there’s an idea.”

“I was kidding,” I snap. “If you try to tie me to the bed, I’m going to beat the shit out of you.”

“You’re a bit outnumbered and you’re injured, but I appreciate your spirit.”

I glare. “Screw you.”

“That’s something that’s not on the table.”

“What?”

“Screwing me. I make it a habit not to mix business with pleasure.”

His eyes roam over me in a leisurely gaze that leaves me achy and hot. Damn. How do some guys just know how to do that?

“In your dreams, Grandpa.”
